Id like to find out what VGChartz opinion consensus is on what genre is the best.

Please feel free to discuss freely why you like certain genres. But for the benefit of my future poll posts I have planned please vote in the poll.

EDIT: I understand fighters is missing among some others. Please choose others but specify in a post what genre it was for others. As this will benefit my figures.

Personally, I like all genres. Sure I have favorite games, but that doesn't mean I like that genre more than others.

Zelda/Metroid-esque puzzle action adventure games are my favourite for the single player
on multi, i would go with sports/racing/fighting games

I voted platformer.

I enjoy action-adventure games, JRPG's and arcade-style racers. Also strategy (C&C) and simulation (SimCity) games.

I do not often enjoy puzzle games, FPS', survival horror games or more realistic racing games. I've yet to play a Western RPG other than Summoner 2 that I've really enjoyed.

At the moment I am indifferent towards third-person shooters, leaning towards liking them.

My favorite genre is action adventure, especially if it's an open world game. I just the love the freedom to do what I want. Games like grand theft auto, uncharted, Assassin's Creed, Yakuza and Minecraft (don't what genre that is in, maybe it's own genre lol), I just love they are very fun, you get to kill stuff or just explore the world if you want.

I also like FPS games, and I am starting to like RPG's too

I like all the ones you put up there, no real favorite.
As long as it's not sports or a fighter or rts to a lesser extent it's fine with me.
I like variety more then anything, I can't play too many games of the same genre after each other.

The platformer genre is my all time favorite (with amazing franchises such as Mario, Sonic, Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong Country, Kirby, and Rayman).

Action-Adventure is my second favorite with genres such as Zelda, Metroid, Okami, Epic Mickey, and Castlevania.
