Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Experience, San Francisco 29 Sept 2012 video

Nintendo held an invite only preview of the Wii U this weekend.

The event was an hour and a half and I estimate maybe 100 invites were sent out based upon the space and crowd. Much like a booth at an E3 show, there were lines for every title, some longer than others, but overall it was a pretty decent preview.

Zombi U in particular had a pretty consistently long line, even with a kiosk in the main room for the single player campaign and a separate room hosting a different demo that I'm assuming was the multiplayer mode.

Tablet controller was lighter than it looks, which is actually a good thing if you have to hold it up for hour plus sessions.

The Arkham City demo showed that the addition of a touch tablet can enhance existing games without being gimmicky although I don't see myself buying the game for the third time. Maybe for the extra content later down the line since I never bought any of the DLC and it's all in the Wii U port.

General impression of the crowd, accounting for the fact that the only people who were sent invites were Club Nintendo members, was pretty positive and reinforced my suspicion that the Wii U will likely be sold out through the holidays.

Speak for yourself ;)

Wish I knew this was going on. I would have went.

They sent out invitations to Club Nintendo members. Presumably Nintendo is holding these events in other locations to promote the launch, but given the small nature of the event (no more than 100 people) these are not over the top spectacles for the general public and more like secret shows.

The location to the SF event wasn't even announced until about a week prior.

Secert society vibe... Lol!

Atleast it went well over there, given to the invite. If the crowd wasn't wow'ed, especially that of Nintendo members, than Nintendo must be doing something wrong.

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!
