Forums - Microsoft - SyFy Launches New Series Exclusively on Xbox

IGN

For the very first time, Syfy Digital will launch an original series, Nuclear Family, exclusively on the Xbox 360 via their Syfy App.

The show revolves around a family's struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic society ruled by a savage clan led by The Man, while also searching for their missing child, lost in the aftermath of a mysterious explosion.

Nuclear Family stars Corin Nemec (Parker Lewis, Stargate SG-1), Kinsey Packard (Sleeper Cell), Ray Wise (Twin Peaks, Mad Men) and Sharon Lawrence (Desperate Housewives).

All 20 episodes will be released on October 1 over Xbox LIVE, with simultaneous premieres on Syfy's official website, Hulu, VOD and Syfy's new Roku channel starting October 15.

The Man. That is too fucking funny. Jesus Christ couldn't they think of anything better than that? Why not Big Brother or Whitey? I don't think I've ever watched anything on SyFy that wasn't some horrible B movie shit with acting that is comparable to some late night soft porn on HBO or something. I'm sure there is decent stuff on there but I always end up with Ice Spiders or this

Yes, this is mother fucking Urkel. Actually, this trailer makes it look cooler than it is, LOL.

But I am a sucker for "post-apocalyptic society" so I'll check this out. The Man...lol.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

15 days exclusve?

Why not on tv? Is it not good enough for tv or are they hoping it will get some attention this way?
I'm still pissed at syfy for cancelling Caprica and Stargate Universe. (and don't forget Firefly...)

SyFy isn't what it used to be... Feckers cancelling Firefly and shit.

I thought Firefly was on FOX, no?

This is where TV is headed. Waiting 7 days in between episodes of your favorite shows is going the way of the dodo. Streaming services are going to replace cable channels. People love no commercials, and even better they love the entire season being released at once instead of slowly trickling out over 9 months.

It sounds more like a timed exclusive show.

You don't have to watch commercials, simply buy a pvr/tivo. Watch it 20 minutes after the air time and you can skip through all the commercials.

There is a reason shows are spread out over time, watching it all close together will lead to series fatigue much faster. I watched the first 3 seasons of Dexter on Netflix, got fed up with up, it become all too slow and similar when watched close together. I had the same with series I bought like Heroes and Battlestar Galactica. And I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be watching Fringe anymore if I had it all in one dose. No more did you see that episode last night conversations either.

Nothing wrong with having the choice, but it didn't work for me. And it's a lot easier to try a new series when you don't have to decide first if it's worth paying extra for.  Plus internet has to get a lot better before it can compete with the HD quality of cable, at least over here. I recently cancelled Netflix, too cumbersome to check my internet usage all the time and having to wait until my cap resets to see the rest.

Maybe for my kids it will be the only way to watch tv by the time they grow up. TV has gone from a very social experience (My parents watched tv as kids at the neighbours, one of the few with a tv, with a lot of other people coming over regularly to watch the limited broadcast on 1 channel) to a completely individual experience where even family members hardly ever watch together anymore.

Well i didn't watch the show and now i dont plan too. it looks like the episodes are only about 7-10 minutes in length so basically waste of time in my eyes. I was hoping for an actual show.
