it's basically following the inFamous 2 route with ice vs fire powers/attacks

For example, in smash, Samus and Zero suit are one same selectable character, even though they are night and day in terms of movesets. It's better for the roster to merge characters like this, in this case Cole being the easiest choice.

You are looking over this whole thing from the wrong angle. See it from my perspective! I love Killzone, Uncharted, God of War, Twisted Metal, InFAMOUS. And I won't include your R&C + J&D. To even have people like Radec, Drake, Kratos, Sweet tooth and Cole in one game is insane to me. You listed two people from Halo and Gears. I can list 4 from Uncharted alone. But you cannot relate, perhaps it is because you never got attached to these characters. I do reckon you getting a PS3 (and no playing on your "friends" isnt the same) fairly recently whereas I have had it as nearly as long as you have had your 360.
I refer all of you to this thread Where Selnor claims the game isnt full of a "rememberable" cast. "My confusion with this is Sony doesn't have any memorable characters. Its true. Kratos, Parapa the Rapa, Drake they are all forgetable." With all due respect, to me: I will never , ever, forget Nathan Drake. That character in a way, has inspired me beyond that of a video game. I don't expect you to understand that. After all, you probably find someone like Marcus Fenix to be more "rememberable". Maybe even not. But you have to understand there are people beyond you in this world and not everyone shares your opinion. What are you? Some kind of fortuneteller? Your post has exposed you for your true mentality. Selnor raised a very strong point - that was based from a neutral perspective. The character roster is awful and you are disuputing that. Most casuals haven't even heard of more than a 3rd of those characters. You may well have but isn't a game for the hardcore...
You sound awfully bitter against a valid argument and sought to make it a personal vendetta against Selnor, what's your problem!? How about adressing his valid argument.
It's not about what characters YOU want, he's argument was that it was generally a bad list. It is because a lot of those characters are obscure ones that MOST PS3 owners won't have heard of (myself included). What's worse is that it is missing the characters that truly are associated with "Playstation". I.E Where the fuck is Crash Bandicoot and characters like that.
Trying to have a sensible conversation and you have to make it about some kind of Sony Vs Microsoft fanboy war. I'm not calling you a fanboy as that is against the rules but it's pretty obvious the way you worded your post that you have some kind of weird damage control defensive nonsens going on?

OT: I don't buy many PS3 games, but I was following this one. It does look meh, unless again you are a big fan.
Don't jump on Selnor, eventhough he poorly express his opinion and his post are flame bait, he kind of has a point. When the game was announced, people defended the idea stating that under the Sony umbrella there were many characters to pick. And, it doesn't look that numerous, actually it appears they struggled to complete that list (read Good/Evil Cole).
There will be unlockables, they probably have mentioned that all characters would be available at the beggining, but they can't just leave the rooster at that size. Or DLC, hopefully free.

selnor's post was basically i don't like any of these characters...
which is to be expected because he's not a playstation fan, but the problem with that lies in the fact that the game itself is intended to be based mostly on playstation exclusive chacracters...
if his ( or your ) gripes with the roster are rooted in unfamiliarity with the characters how can his perspective be called neutral when he then goes on to list a bunch of obscure characters from microsoft?

it has been explained repeatedly that those characters are not sony owned and hence if the associated ip holders are not willing to share them then they may not appear in the game
anyway i'm trilled that there's a game being made where i can duke it out with jak, rachet, drake etc
because i'm actually a fan of their games... which it should be obvious is the intended target of this game
as you've said many times you aren't in that category so why are you bothered about the game?

I was thinking, every character featured in the To Michael commercial should have been in this game. I'm not too pleased with the final roster, I may skip.

OT: the roster seems pretty good. disappointed not to see crash, spyro, old snake and nathan hale but theres always extra characters that can be added. cant wait though.
