Forums - Sony - [Gamasutra] Shuhei Yoshida: PlayStation Vita's biggest challenge: Convincing developers

"when we are able to define what PS Vita is." He said Sony needs to show third parties what Vita players buy, and what kind of games work best on the platform. At that point, Sony will be able to entice more developers to support the handheld.

So if call of duty sells well then developers get the impression that is what vita owners want? Sending their games off to small devs who make shoddy games? Sounds great considering the selling point of this system.

I wonder if ea will be willing to give medal of honor to their interns.

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

Perhaps the vitas holiday lineup can boost sales and attract more third party developers.

Vita Q4 games

Little Big planet
Assasins Creed 3: Liberation
Need for speed: Most wanted
Persona 4: The golden
PSASBR
Sly Cooper: Theives in time
CoD Black Ops Declassified
Ratchet and Clank QForce

With the introduction of PS plus to the Vita, Upcoming games like Killzone and Tearaway, all these Q4 games and Crossbuy for multiplat titles if this can't save the vita I'm not sure what will.

sadly sly cooper got pushed back to Q1 next year, but hey you forgot LBP karting!

Sly Cooper was delayed till 2013, but you're right.

And you know why you're right? Because next year release schedule for the west is very dry so far, so this holiday is of utmost importance, some of these game even will have to have legs, imo - which is not easy.

He's flubbed some stuff, for sure, but he seems to realize when he's flubbed it and is generally willing to admit it after the fact unlike most corporate toolbags. Missing the boat on Demon's Souls, for instance. Clearly the launch of the Vita was piss poor, but I find his candor about it refreshing and reassuring. He knows there's a problem, he admits there's a problem, and he's said it's his responsibility to line up support for the platform. That's exactly what I want to hear.

Also, he's one of the few suits who is actually a gamer! And he made Tokyo Jungle a better game! <3 <3 <3 Yoshida!

Make no mistake, I like him a lot too. He is a gamer, talks like a gamer and is the most resposible person for making Sony lose that "arrogant" aura they seemed to have before.

But I don't know... for example, those mistakes are not noticeable just now, they were noticeable 6 months ago (or more), and so far nothing really impactful is being done. No MH, no price cut, no epic TGS (like everybody expected due to the situation - and because they cancelled a vita heaven). Do some drastic strategy instead of "waiting to find Vita's identity" would be my advice to him.

Sly Cooper will only be launched in 2013. Heard the same about Most Wanted (Vita Version).

Also, 5 ports in the list, and LBP started weak in Europe and Japan.

We need moar Zelda, now!

We need moar Unchartedzz!

We need less DLCs.

Make them an offer they cannot refuse...

Oh, I see now. You're in denial. The 3DS fan in you is butthurt about the Senran Kagura betrayalton of the century!

I do think the lack of powerhouse titles is worrisome, too, from a sales perspective. If they're sitting on any at all, I don't think it does them any good to play coy. They should go ahead and announce something. So, my feeling is that there is no great savior waiting in the wings. On the other hand, the recent announcements have made me a very happy owner. For my admittedly niche taste, the Vita looks way better than it has up until now.

Poor back touch pad... he won't be used with fingers...

Pay developers a lot of money! That will get them to come around.

No. Nintendo now caters to third parties. That is why we have Monster Hunter, and Bayonetta, and other third party games. Probably why all these third party publishers are praising the Wii U so much.

Ninpie grew up.

well still, ninty doesn't need 3rd party, and soon Sony may not either.

ninpie greup? srry don't get the joke.
