The problem with Nintendo's lineup is it's really only SSBB, SMK, and Wii Fit then a big question mark for the rest of the year. Maybe they'll pull out Star Fox and Animal Crossing but will they be big enough to compete with what will likely be a lot of big 360/PS3 multiplatform games as well as the exclusives for each of those consoles?

I expect the 360/PS3 to maintain a more fleshed out library thanks to third parties remaining timid about putting major AA or AAA games on the Wii.

But it sounds like we agree that the Wii, 360 and PS3 are all contenders when it comes to "cream of the crop" games that sell, say, 3 million+ based on previous iterations, which Mario Kart and SSBB are likely to do, and even Wii Fit, despite having no previous iteration to base calculations on, is already well past 1 million in Japan alone and still gaining ground rapidly, so at this point I'd say we have strong data that it will hit that mark, too.

And then, as you onte, Animal Crossing is likely to come out at Christmas, too. It's not the AAA games that the Wii is lacking, it's the No More Heroes style, not-quite-Smash-Brothers-but-still-popular type games.

 So hearing the same old news ten thousand times isn't considered boring?

Final Fantasy VIII is a bad game.

How many million+ selling Wii third party games do you think will come out in 2008?  What about 2-3 million+ Wii third party games?

@Claude

Yeah, sure it is... That would be why it sold millions of copies then...

Good software isn't the only thing that causes things to sell. If so N64 would have crushed all and we all know this. Takes more than just dominant software that sells well to push hardware. This will help but Sony needs more parts working at the same time to force this comeback to arise.

I disagree.  I had both a PS1 and a N64 and I ended up playing the PS1 a lot more because it had many good games that filled every genre.  Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo 2, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider 2, Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 9, Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, Parasite Eve, Twisted Metal 2, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Tenchu, Dragon Warrior 7, WarHawk, Silent Hill, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Tekken 3, Wild Arms, Formula 1, Colony Wars, Blood Omen, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, etc...

 Going by sales, yes easily.  SMK, SSBB and Wii Fit will outsell all of the games coming to PS3 this year.  Those games might not sell crazy amounts during their launches but will go on to sell crazy amounts given that those games have a proven track record (aside from Wii Fit).  If they throw Animal Crossing into the mix then hey it's just one more proven franchise which will outsell anything coming to the PS3.

If you had argued 3rd party sales, well then you might have had a point but you chose to focus on Nintendo games and as we see constantly, Nintendo games sell exteremely well.  Not that third parties couldn't make a high selling game, they are just too disoriented to figure out that good games sell no matter what system they are on.

The PS3 will do well this year for sure but not as well as the Wii.  It'll still be a year to remember for the PS3.  It has a lot of games which appeal to the hardcore audience coming out.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Personally, with the size of the Wii's userbase and the rate that it is growing, I'm expecting about twice the performance from third parties in 2008 than we have seen to date. This would mean that we will see 3 to 5 third party games sell more than 2 Million units, 6 to 12 games games selling between 1 and 2 Million units, and 12 to 18 third party games selling between 500,000 and 1 Million units.

Well Nintendo released a list of games that are coming out for the first half of the year so could you list 3 of the third party 2+ million sellers and 6 or 7 of the 1 million+ sellers?
