W.W.B was designed to be horrible. I was trying to go for the worst ranked game on that site, and did what I could to make it bad. It is a horrible game.
But here is a thing, if you are not average, either real bad or real good, you get attention. In a network, that has a compounding effect. And, if the object of attention is new, there is additional focus placed on it. So, end result, the game rises on there, and people check out my profile, and likely see what else I created. If nothing else really breaks out, good chance W.W.B ends up rising to the top of the hotness list. And as people join in and produce content, it gets a following and become a metajoke of sorts, with people producing their own content using it. W.W.B also is reach for attaching to other ideas. It symbolically can symbolically be connected to a lot of things.
Until, W.W.B did that, I had been pretty obscure on there. Since it broke, W.W.B went from like 6 ratings to like over 18 now. And it is likely to join a game called something like Poisson De Averal, or whatever.
I would say also, that it is likely a slow time in the game cycle there. I believe same happened locally where I make the front page of the local newspaper, over my finding a job. Corresponded with the reports of unemployment going up, and i do have an interesting enough story that a reporter wanted to cover it.
Big thing here is whether or not this will translate into long-term success, and get me the break I need to do game design as something for a living. I will look to go and get W.W.B on Kickstarter, and see how that goes.
