Forums - Nintendo - Wii Fit

Ok, I am genuine about not wanting to start a flamebait here, but can someone tell me what the deal is with Wii Fit? I don't get what the big news is about this o.O

It's a video game that involves more effort than anything I've played in the past aside from maybe DDR,

It's main focus is to play through challenging mini game routines, (or so I think o.O; )

I'm not sure if it's bringing in some new icons or major franchise installments,

It's not musically themed, ( another one of those I thinks... )

Like I said I'm not here to start a flamewar, I just really don't understand the hype behind this. Some people on this site are expecting this to be the next Halo 3 in terms of immediate sales, and I just don't understand the theory on such momentum... ESP in America where we have like the highest percentage of un-fit people O.o; was there a video of something awesomely badass that I missed?

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

As people have pointed out, if Oprah does a segment on WiiFit, it would mean big numbers. Maybe not millions, but 100k-500k from just those people. Imagine you are a 15 year old, you come home from school and your mom is using your Wii to work out. Result? Kid asks for a new Wii.

It really opens the door to nongamers. They can use the Wii to get fit. I should know - I stay active, and my wife uses it even more. Nongamers will pick this up, as well as gamers.

As much as I love blasting fools in games, this title really, really interests me. I am begging Ninny's PR firm to hook me up with a copy.

I don't think people expecting its beats halo first week, but halo overall. Its expected to do like brain age, not that big first week, but legs. Assume it sells 300k 12 month straight just in the us, that would be 3.6 Million. Its should be more that kind of game.

The big deal is it has a huge appeal to a demographic that is outside of the usual gamer demographic. A really huge appeal. Also, from the reviews I've seen, it also appeals to the core gamer demographic (many only after they try it) because it's fun. That's basically the deal. I blame Nintendo.

A lot of gyms and spas will order Wiifit, it will get a lot of good press.

It is going to outsell Halo 3 WW LTD... it is already about 1.1 mil in japan, I expect a min of 2.5 there, that is 2.5 Halo did not have since it did not sell in japan.

add me, the more the merrier.

People spend more money on weight loss products in the United States than the World spends on videogames ... A large portion of the crappy equipment you see in infomercials costs more than a Wii with Wii Fit, is a worse workout than Wii Fit, and sells more than many popular videogames.

It's a game that let's you have fun while shedding some pounds. Everybody wants to lose weight. Instead of enticing merely gamers, this could potentially attract ANYBODY to the Wii.

@ikilledkenny
Might be time to update the sig, bro.
