Yeah, crossed my mind that by introducing that hardware Valve is maybe aiming to become another competing platform in "console wars" - have whatever PC you like if it meets minimal requirements, but "Steam VR" headset is required for playing "Steam VR" games?

Personally this SR is much cooler than Oculus Rift though.

Yeah, I know Cliff was not refering to SR, and yeah, SR is way cooler than Oculus - I just find it interesting that he was very certain in his prediction, and that we are seeing VR push from severeal directions at the same time.
