Red Deer teen charged after boy, 6, sexually assaulted

A 13-year-old boy has been charged after a younger boy was sexually assaulted on a toboggan hill in Red Deer, Alta., police said.

The RCMP said they arrested the teen, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, on Wednesday and charged him with one count of sexual assault in the case involving the six-year-old.

The alleged incident happened near the hill at the Bower Community Centre in Red Deer, Alta.

On Jan. 6, the boy was sledding on the hill at a community centre when he said he was approached by an older boy who took him into a bush near the hill and assaulted him, he told police.

Police have said the boy was traumatized, but not physically hurt.

The teen has been released and is scheduled to appear in a Red Deer court on Feb. 7.

"I told him that Kingdom Hearts 3 was not coming to Wii and he just went nuts from there and told me he was going to touch me" Said the boy to police officers. I don't know if a 13 year old would know what he was doing.. clearly he should be punished in some way so he knows what he did was wrong but still.

 obviously he knows what he was doing.  When I was 13, I was a freshman in highschool and I was very aware of sexual things.  In fact I had my first serious relationship with a girl at that age.  I knew well before that age what I was doing.  That is no excuse at all.

 

Looking back, these ages seem so young, but just think of how you were at that age.  People typically underassume the capabilities of children.

13-year-old girl arrested for alleged school bus assaults

PALMER –—A 13-year-old Sutton girl is being held in the Mat-Su Youth Facility after two boys said she sexually assaulted them on a school bus.

The boys, also 13, of Sutton, said the girl touched them over their clothing, Palmer Police Det. Kelly Turney said. Police went to Palmer Junior Middle School Jan. 9 to investigate and ended up arresting the girl.

Turney said little information could be released about the incident since all the involved parties are juveniles and that a press release discussing the case was necessarily brief and vague.

“All people see is what we can release, but I can tell you it’s not that simple,” Turney said.

He said officers weighed the facts of the case and decided that two charges of second-degree harassment and one each of second-degree sexual assault and attempted second-degree sexual assault were appropriate.

This is a very interesting case. I believe this has a lot to do with the parents, and their inability to interact vocally with thier child about what thouse feelings are, and what the approprite action to take is when in that situation. My parents were always very open with me when I would over hear a sexual term and were very careful to explain to me what it was and why it should be a very special thing between two people. Some kids I knew in school had parents that even when they were 15 - 16 would not talk to them about sex. It is really hard to judge this situation based on the little info released. If the boy has had a history of smaller problems I would say that a farly hefty punishment is in order, bcause rape is not acceptable at any if a person has awarness, but on the other hand if the boy is getting his first warning I think he needs to be counciled on what he has done, and mabye perform some community service to further his understanding that it was inaproprite.

I still stand by my belief that if a => 13 year male/female and a =>13 year old male/female were to have a relationship, that intercourse is not a wrong thing.
