I can't remember exactly, about an hour after the battle of Narshe and when Terra went for a quick fly.

Ahh! You are not that far into the game, trust me it gets better!

That's good to know, I'll give it another spin at the weekend.

That is basically what I said. When you question  and check your own objectivity as a safety precaution you are being objective. And sorry, I forgot the "All" in there.

Except it wasn't... you missed frame of refrences.  This is different from bias.

Additionally I can't see how you think you've accouted for it when... you know.  You didn't even think it was bias a day ago.

Frame of Reference: a set of ideas, conditions, or assumptions that determine how something will be approached, perceived, or understood<a Marxian frame of reference>

I am fully aware of all differing frames of reference on this subject matter, that is basically what we have been debating this whole time. How can I not be aware of it?

-first this will always be based mostly on opinion.

-Many started with FFVII as their first

-Some have started with dif entries and hold FFVI in higher regard

-There are people who "Hate" on things simply because they are popular, and in this case it seemed to come to a boiling point right around FFVII compilation.

-Some don't fav the one they started with

-FFVII gets the most exposure tha  any other entry.

-etc

These are all subjects we have been talking about for the last few pages so yes, I am fully aware of the possible tangents that have an effect on people's opinion. My stance still holds that this is a new notion that only became popular after FFVII's compilation and this gen started. I am not saying all FFVI's lovers opinions formed this way, only that a sizable amount only became visible until that time I spoke of. Every time I see one of these top FF____ lists its basically the same thing for the last 5 years. FFVII photos are used to advertise it, then you get to the list and another totally obscure title or just down right laughable game is put before it in some vain attempt to prove to people FFVII is not a good game(or at least not as good as they remember).

Before 5 years ago, it was practically universal that Best FF Main:Cloud, Best FF Villain: Sephiroth, best FF Game: FFVII whenever such lists showed their face. How is it not strange that all this changed right after SE started funneling mass amounts of money into all things FFVII? You may have always had your opinion of VI and VII, but many people's opinions CHANGED mysteriously. I correlate this the inductive nature of the Non-Conformist Conformist hive mentality, that its the cool thing these days to "Diss" something really popular and it spreads like wild fire. Not to mention these so called journalists pander to this repeatedly just to get massive hits from irritated fans.

No it wasn't.

It really really wasn't.

You keep missing this.

5 years ago is 2007 right?

Lets look at IGN's 100 best games list from 2005.

http://top100.ign.com/2005/001-010.html

FF7, 88th best game of all time.

FF6?  56th best game of all time.

FF4? 26th best game of all time.

Aside from that. Frame of refrence means you can appreciate the game as part of it's era.

It actually always was very rare FF7 ever ended up at number 1 final fantasy wise in a list done by professional videogame magazines or websites.

That belief has pretty much ALWAYS persisted among people who had played both in order.

If you didn't notice, you simply weren't paying attention.

Didn't say it was?  I said that when ranking games FF6 > FF7 was more or less par for the course among gaming journalists.

If anything, it's been MORE likely that FF7 is ranked above FF6 in recent years due to people who started with FF7 ending up at gaming websites and magazines.

That this is "best games" rather then "best rpgs"is meaningless....

well unless you think FF7 is a better RPG, but FF6 is a better game.  Which seems like an awkward arguement but i'll listen to it.

Is Skyrim #1?

Probably will be xD

Oh, good. If that's the case then this list is fantastic, because skyrim is the greatest game full of bugs of all time.

FIXED

dammit beat me too it haha.

Man, so many of my faves are already gone. Front Mission 3, Grandia II, Skies of Arcadia (which I'd REALLY like to see on a portable). The top ten had better be full of RPGs that are godlike.

Updated now.

Monster Hunter Tri is a RPG? And is better than FFX? K.
