Oh. Uh... I dunno, I think I always did Nugget Bridge before fighting Misty. Wait a second! Isn't Misty on a date by Bill's house or something? I thought you HAD to do that first? Maybe I'm getting my gens mixed up...

For the record, I think Blue will be easier than Misty right now. Rol can take down his spearow. Spurge and Turkish can beat rattata and eevee. The only one I'm not sure about is sandshrew, but I figure maybe Turkish can take him?

Rol the Pikachu - Level 20 - Thundershock, Double Team, Quick Attack, Thunder Wave

Pie the Spearow - Level 15 - Peck, Growl, Leer, Fury Attack

Ioi the Zubat - Level 15 - Leech Life, Supersonic, Bite

Spurg the Mankey - Level 16 - Scratch, Leer, Low Kick, Karate Chop

Turkish the Nidorino - Level 19 - Poison Sting, Tackle, Horn Attack, Double Kick

I say go through Gary, I don't remember what the yellow changes were but in red he's got a pidgeotto (easy for pikachu), abra (free exp), and I guess he'll have an Eve (easy kill). Shouldn't be too bad and nugget bridge and the trainers up north will be easy. I think the only threat is a guy with a level 16 Ratticate. Plus you might get super lucky and get an Abra.

Blue should be easier. None of his pokemons are fully evolved and have a strong STAB attack. Check route 24, 25, 5 and 9 before Misty to get more team members. Right now the best user for Mega Punch (can be bought later, so...) is Spurge.

He leads with Spearow, I lead with Rol. A pair of Thundershocks and he is down. To deal with Sandshrew, I send out Turkish. A few Horn Attacks do the job no problem. Rattata falls to a single Low Kick from Spurg, as does Eevee thanks to a critical hit.

Honestly, I remember having more trouble with this guy.

Anyhow, onto Route 24!

Nugget Bridge is a good chance for training! Each trainer is dealt one at a time, with Center trips in between, to maximize safety. Trainer #1 falls to Pie's Peck attack. #2 falls under the weight of Rol and Ioi. #3 is no match for Spurg, Ioi, and Rol. Rol takes on #4 by himself, and #5 is taken out by

Realizing that the guy at the end is a secret Rocket agent and having an excuse to beat him up comes as a pleasure.

Anyhow, I continue north and find that a trainer is really down on himself. Seems that he doesn't think he's worthy of raising a Charmander. I take it off his hands and name him Basil, because Fire Pokemon FTW! I then go east to Route 25, where I come across a level 12 Bellsprout. I capture him and name him Radish.

And so, even in the light of a loss, the team grows...

Yeah man, you're going to be pretty useful for the next couple of gyms! poor Ioi though... I like Zubat. Heck, he was practically a Golbat, wasn't he? Man, that's gotta be rough.

So sad to be so close to Mewtwo's cave, and be unable to do anything about it.

Poor Ioi. I also really like the bat pokemon.
