LET'S GO KNICKS

Around the Network

@radishhead: To tell you truth, they're not really that overpowered against Misty, you'll just get a less chance of your pokemon get KO'd. And besides, their's always having your Pokemon disobey your commands for having them leveling up too high... See, wich ever you choose, you'll still have a drawback. ;)

Salnax, I can't believe you didn't think of capturing the ones you don't have before grinding your party. XD

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

Poor Mugen, he didn't live enough to spread his wings...

Salnax, don't use a moonstone to evolve Turkish until you've beated Misty, or we'll need another viking ship.

After a brief memorial for Mugen, it is time to move on. I buy some more balls and head to Route 3. Route 3 has a bunch of trainers, so that calls for a lot of running back and forth to the Center and back. Rol takes care of Flying mons with Thundershock, Turkish beats down Poison mons with Horn Attack, and Spurg slays Normal types with Low Kick. Rol has a close call with a Rattata, but things go generally well. Rol also learns Quick Attack, while Turkish learns Double Kick.

By the way, how do these Big Catchers get so far without evolving their team? What, are they afraid of having competent fighters on their team? Or did Butterflies call them names when they were younger. I just don't get it.

Anyhow, I finally reach some tall grass and see what mon awaits me...

Great! I could use a flyer. I name her after the famous avian member of VGChartz, "Pie."

Next, I see what mon awaits me in Mt. Moon...

Damn I'm disappointed. Your name shall be Ioi, my pathetically designed friend.

Well, next time I'm going to go into Mt. Moon. Hope to see yo

Analysis of current party members:

Mankey is a Fighting Pokemon that specializes in hitting hard and quickly with Physical attacks. It evolves into Primeape at level 28, or the mid-game. As a Primeape, it is similarly built, only more so. Throughout the game, Mankey/Primeape relies upon Low Kick as its only regular Fighting Attack, although it can also learn the powerful Karate Chop and Fury Swipes. This lack of powerful attacks ultimately leaves it limited. Worse, its defenses are poor, especially against Special Attacks. Therefore, although Mankey is useful early on, it might be best not to take him all the way.

Nidoran Male, on the other hand, is well off. In addition to learning the moderately useful Horn Attack and Double Kick early on, it can evolve two times in rapid sucession. You can easily end up with a late-game tier Pokemon just after or even before you beat Misty. That said, Nidoking is reliant upon TMs for most of its quality moves, including the likes of Earthquake.

Spearow and Fearow are arguably better off than the Pidgey Family. These fast and powerful mons mostly rely on Peck and Drill Peck, two moves shared with Doduo, but on their own rights, they use them pretty well. They can also use Fly, Mirror Move, and Agility. That said, their reliance on Flying attacks leaves them wanting in the variety department.

Zubat sucks Gen 1. It doesn't get a reliable attack until level 15, making it only slightly more useful until Magikarp. And unlike Magikarp, Zubat never becomes a Gyarados. Sure, Wing Attack is nice, and so is Confuse Ray, but you have to do so much work to get there, it's usually not worth it.

What the heck is this? Why am I a girl Pidgey?!

I like Zubat. >.> Maybe I'm too used to gen 2.

It won't have a disgusting disadvantage against Misty like Geodude would have, but Jigglypuff or Clefairy probably would have been alright. At least Geodude would have been helpful against Surge...

Also, poor Mugen! Guess you should've fought more of those trainers in Viridian Forest.

Your avatars switch between being girls and Piplup. And there are no penguins in this game. Therefore, you're the first random female bird I see. Despite the fact that gender isn't in G1...

I like Zubat... after Red/Blue/Yellow. Once it got another evolution, learned its attacks quicker, and was compatible with more TMs, it was a fairly good line of Pokemon.

I'm thinking Rol will be mostly responsible for taking on Misty. If he can't take the lead now, when his stats are still decent and he has an elemental advantage, he's going to have troubles later on. As for Surge, it's a good thing I have a Nidoran and will probably get a Diglett.

Maybe I should have trained more... but then there's be more chances for enemy critical hits. You can't dwell in the past too much.
