Shigeru Miyamoto
*awkward silence*
@Salnax: Maybe 'cause of the anime gave us the empression that Lt. Surge's gym is a demon compared to the earlier 2 gyms that we faced, also Pokemon was pretty new to us back when it was introduced, so yeah. Blame our misconseptions and our noobs mindset. lol
P.S. I'm the top DUG.
P.S.S. . . . . "YEAH!" *guitar riffs follows...
Lt. Surge was the OTHER weird out of place thing about Pokemon other then Lavender Town... and i'd argue more out of place/weird.
I mean Lavender town was where Pokemon died... sure, weird change of tone... but hey... Pokemon get old and die... whatever. They turn into ghost pokemon... weird.
Now Lt. Surge. He was a Soldier. Who fought in a war. Raichu saved him from being killed by paralyzing his enemies.
So, what pretty much goes completely unmentioned/related is that each country has it's own army of Pokemon and Pokemon trainers (with guns? Probably) who kill each other in wars.
Is the beloved art of Pokemon training really just due to statist propaganda to brainwash and train children into being the soldiers of tomorrow?!
Maybe Sanalax just killed Blue's Raticate.
You're going to rock the rest of this game out. No fear.
Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

I've heard that his cousin who lives in Johto and have his same name, face and job put the Dragon Gym near the Ice Path.
Maybe Gym Leaders are just so arrogant they feel that they could still win even if they are positioned next to pokémon that are super effective to their own?
Before I go off to Route 11, it's time to change the team lineup.
I'm going up against a Grass-type gym next, but first I have to go through a cave. Triple and Turkish will be weak against Zubats and are Ground type, so I box them. Meanwhile, I withdraw Pie, for his Flying strength against Grass, and Moon, for his Psychic power over Poison. I keep Basil for his resistecne to Grass, Basil for his Fire type, Rol for his cutness, and Spurg because... i dunno, he just balances the team out in case I come across anything else.
On my way to get the HM for Flash back on Route 2, I pick up Leather the Squirtle. He may be useful later, but considering how I'm going to a grass-type gym soon, I think I'll pass on adding him to the party just yet.
Pie is immune to Dig, so Diglett's Cave is a simple affair. Professor Oak's Aide on the other end gives me Flash, I stop at the local Center, and head back to the other side of the cave.
From there, I head up to Route 9 up back near Cereleun City. I did not spell that right.
Trainer 1 poisons Pie, but I get back to the Center with 30 HP to spare. Moon takes care of Trainer 4, and Pie evolves after we beat #3. A wild Nidorino is found in the tall grass, but Rol kills it.
Oh you.
Anyhow, I eventually capture another Nidoran male on Route 10, named Ice after an old friend of mine. The team beat up everyone along the way with little trouble. I enter the Rock Cave and find a Geodude, which I accidentally OHKO.
Next time, I actually explore the second biggest cave in the game.
