Forums - Sony - Crysis on the PS3.

I think it would be a mistake to not bring this game to the 360 and PS3, even in a neutered state from its max PC specs.

I don't see this game having very good legs in the PC world and it would definitely sell on consoles.

 Yeah. I agree.

PS3 is a must play platform,
PC is a must play platform,
so it doesn`t matter if it comes or not, because of all pc exclusive, pc is still a must play platform.
good if true. =)

funny, if comes on ps3 and not don`t to x360, that would be ownage. =))

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

I want this game to run on ps3 at 60fps at its max pc specs.

About as likely to happen as the Wii running it at 60 fps at max specs.  In other words impossible.

The PS3 couldn't run CoD4 at 720p smoothly and they had to lower it and just upscale so there is no absolutely no chance you could ever see Crysis running smoothly at anything remotely close to 1080p.

And saying "i'll laugh if it happens" is useless.  That's like if Wii fanboys started talking about how Factor 5's new Wii game will look better than anything PS3 can do and when shot down, responding with "i'll laugh at you if it happens".

@tk I'm not sure how much you know about the PS3, but it seems like some of your info is a bit off lol. Some bit about streaming textures comes to mind with certain games, I'm no computer wiz so I'm not sure how that all works out, but woulden't that help the GPU out as well?

What i said is just basic stuff i know about the PS3 architecture... It may be off a lil, but the whole point of the post is that the PS3 architecture is different, and unless a game is specifically made for the PS3 it will have problems running ( as we have seen with ever game basically, bar Burnout, which was made with the PS3 in mind). For this reason, even if Crysis is ported across, it will not be able to run at amazing graphics levels unless there was a massive engine overhaul.

Man you guys got blinders on if you dont think Crysis is possible on PS3. The visual results could be the same but the code would have to be optimized for the PS3.

Exactly. Brad at Stardock has made the point that even when it comes to PC games they can be optimized to run better on weaker cards. Look at "Sin of the Solar Empire" for example. It was optimized to have amazing graphics on an average graphic card. Yet Brad made the point just how much would a game be rewarded (noticed by reviewers) for being optimized to run great on weaker cards. It seems to market doesn't reward programers enough to optimized PC games so you got to have a $500 card just to get a descent framerate.

@azrm

It couldt handle cod4 at 720p smoothly?

Proof of this?

I think I have commented on this before and I don't think any of those debates were at a very high level. So let me just say that while it is possible.... its not possible at the very high or probably even high settings that PCs get.

With that said its possible but I think it will take some work and probably require reduced draw-distances etc..

I hope it turns out to be true because I would be very interested in seeing how final product looks.

But as usual this is still a rumor and as such it is a lie until proven otherwise =)

If it could, why would Infinity Ward have put it at 600p?

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

It was established that CoD4 wasn't running at 720p.

It may be capable of handling it smoothly I guess if they spent more time with it but the fact of the matter is that it doesn't run at 720p and yet you expect a far more demanding game to run maxed out?
