I woke up in the morning and I had like 50 e-mails in my gmail inbox for a Mario Kart drama. Please don't do that again, that is all I have to say on the matter.

But by not allowing others to host in a thread "Ex: MK8 Tourney June 25th 5:00pm EST" how can the mass know? When their are huge long threads people do tend to look through them (obviously), but with new threads it gets more highly noticed at that time.

Also if I or anybody else wanted to do a tourny, how will we let them  kno? If I post Tourny tis Mon in your forum right, how many people would see it? Maybe 5-10 people, and some will miss it completely because  it'll be lost in pages before!!! So with a new thread everybody (the masses) get to see it and the one hosting can set all the rules/etc for themselves there!

Its a win win!

The problem is, and I know you'll natrually disagree, that could/would be too many threads. Organized threads are the best kind, and they've all worked very well in recent history. Official threads have been made before and they will be pretty much exactly like mine. Having an Official thread like this will be able to contain everyone into one (or two, in this case since ConeyG will also be hosting a tourney) community where we can all easily talk to each other and be able to set up races. This works. You know it does considering your participation in the MK7 tourneys at the Official Nintendo Thread.

Your point about people not being able to see my thread is not completely true. Anyone who posts in my thread will automatically bump it to the Hot Topics, where everyone will see it. And, by the way, anyone can talk to me about how to make the Official MK8 thread a better "Official" thread. There's never been a need for this absolutely silly backlash and behind-closed-doors PMs you guys are talking on. I'm absolutely happy to help make my thread flexible. That's what would make the best kind of Official thread. I want to make a great MK8 community on here, much like how TruckO wants to make a great SSB community on here, or how Smeags wants to make a great Pokemon League. However, I can't do that when people aren't trying to help the thread, in this case.

Now this is something we can all get behind

I don't see why there should be any problem in just making a thread for a tourney. I personally rarely look at anything other than the front page for threads so if it wasn't on there as a thread it wouldn't be visible to me.

If the mods really are trying to block people from making threads for tourneys though I can kind of understand that as well. MK8 is going to be a popular game, so while unlikely, it is possible a tonne of people all try to create tourney threads and it just looks a mess on the forums. Maybe some kind of restriction on tourneys being at similar times to each other instead would be better?

It absolutely would be better, and I've already tried explaining to them there won't be any issue as long as each tournament is at a different time from one another, but they have yet to acknowledge this fact among many others.

Sorry, had no idea it'd send messages to people's e-mail accounts aswell.

MK8 "rebellion"? What in the world are you guys up to? -_-

Will anyone be allowed to host tournaments (using the Official MK8 thread) or is it just Cone and NinPie that'll have that power?

Hm, maybe this is where the problem lies.

In the Official MK8 Thread people are allowed to hop into the VGC Community and race each other or organize little tourneys at any time they want to. All that ConeyG and I will be doing are official-type "Tourneys." This is where we will track peoples placement in the actual events where hopefully everyone will join in. However, we aren't trying to restrict everyone to playing at just our times. How in the world would we be able to do that anyway?

OK, so anyone can host tournaments as long as the official thread is used, but you and Cone will take care of the Official Tournament. If that's the case I don't see any issues with it.

However, if the demand for tournaments is too high for one thread to take care of (in a civil matter) a multi-thread solution might be necessary (as in one Official and one Unofficial or something like that).

I feel that the general idea is to consolidate the users into one or two well known threads, you get the best response that way.  At the same time I feel like they are trying to get rid of the "I'm bored and free for the next hour let's have a random tourney", which will be forgotten and then a new one will be made a few hours/days later.  Obviously they are  trying to prevent two different people making threads at the same time and splitting the few people who actually race.

Yes, that is the major point. I'm happy you are at least trying to see our side of the story.

Copy-cat or duplicate threads have always been issues on this site. Official threads help keep that down.

1. NintendoPie takes care of the official thread, hosts two to three tournaments per week. Tallies up results for his tournaments.

2. Another user wants to host weekly MK8 tournaments. Posts in NintendoPie's thread, NPie posts the additional time slot(s) in his OP, user creates a dummy post in the official thread which he will use to tally up results of his tournaments, NPie attaches a link to that post to the timeslots of that host in his OP.

And that's it.

And this is exactly the kind of constructive posts I want.

Thank you, Rol. That's a good idea.

Just for that post I won't ever ban you again.

I want to make a Halo tournament thread when the next Halo comes out. Is that ok or will I be perma banned?
