Forums - Sony - There's no way PS4 is coming in 2013

Why can't it come out in 2013? I don't see your point. A ps4 release won't automatically stop ps3 from selling (ps2's still sell!), plus lots of games are still being released for current gen. Anything is possible

I think if there is any issue it's just getting all the ducks in a row.

#1 The development environment

#2 Developer documentation (APIs, methods and properties)

#3 Code samples

#4 Beta test the OS and iron out any bugs.

#5 Develop the user features and iron out the bugs.

#6 Develop and test firmware update for older hardware so it can properly interact with newer service features and hardware.

#7 Write and verify the user documentation and self-service support information.

#8 QA hardware.

#9 Verify supply and delivery dates.

There's probably a few things I'm missing, but ya get the point.  There's a lot going on besides manufacturing, stick it in a box, and ship it to a store.

That is lot there, but sony has probably started doing most of these things already, i think sony has already been developing it for at least a year by now

@persistanthug

Just prior to the first E3 event after launch Sony's Vice President told the media there were no price cuts planned for the PS3 console. Even if you believe he confused domestic pricing with international pricing. I believe the price cut held true for all major regions within six months. Thus it was already planned for all three major markets. This he did all of like forty eight hours before it was announced on the stage at E3. By the way nobody was surprised major retailers had leaked it in their circulars up to two week previously.

To put it mildly it was a pretty blatant, and in no way excusable. Sony had planned price cuts months in advance by this point in time. Microsoft kept telling the media they were coming. Third party developers had made veiled threats at Sony if they didn't happen. Plus the sales of the machine were bottoming out. It was just so obvious that it was going to happen. That he shouldn't even have bothered trying to dismiss them.

What makes the episode so laughable, or sad as the case may be is this. There were a lot of people on these forums who defended what he did. The arguments was if lying benefited Sony then Sony had every right to lie. It is hard to imagine how anyone could defend the lying let alone the notion that he thought people were gullible enough to fall for that. Yet a lot of people did just that.

Anyway Sony never really comes clean about lies. No matter how obvious it is that they have been caught. What would be nice is if Sony just adopted the strategy that their competition uses. It would save them a lot of grief, time, and money. Just say you don't comment on speculation or rumors.

I thought I was gonna quit, but I had to laugh out loud in real life when I saw this.

You're response and sentiment is the quintessential embodiment of what I mean when I say HOPES & DREAMS.

You have seen and heard nothing but Sony telling you no....but somehow....someway, you've heard nothing but yes.  lol

It's hilarious to me.

I mean, what exactly are you thinking?  Are you thinking that the PS4 is going to be some super surprise revelation?  Are you dreaming that the PS4 is going to break the mold of all other consoles before it, and be thrust upon you in unforeseen and wonderful amazement, as you and everyone is shocked and awed?

That's really the point that I've been trying to drive home to HappySqurriel (and others) for the past few hours.....

It doesn't happen that way, the2real4mafol.......It never does, my friend.

It wasn't a year until after the PS3 was released that Sony provided developers a proper IDE to develop games in, or code samples to reference.

I suppose we'll see how well they do this time around.

it don't know what you are on about, but of course sony won't tell us about it till they're are ready, but that don't mean they haven't been working on it for a while. Most technologies are developed over years or even decades. The PS4 was likely at least a though for sony, even when the ps3 launched. Stuff like this, is not made over night, it takes years to develop to make the final product. But, maybe you don't understand that

Finally, i'm glad I made you laugh, cherish it lol

Sony, may have learnt a lot from it's mistakes with the ps3, but time will tell

Sony needs as many people as possible to buy the PS3 so it makes sense that they are holding off on an "official" unveiling but we all know it's being worked on and is coming.

[what is this, I don't even]

what the FUCK are you talking about....?

you always make these super long post that are almost always completely irrelevant or just plain confusing/convoluted messes, try to streamline, get to the point without posting paragrahs of; always hyperbolic/irrelevant/who gives a damn bullshit.

edit: sorry for the bluntness of the post but there is literally no other way I coud say that
