Forums - Nintendo - Sales of the 3DS are now topping in all regions.

3DS doesn't do as well as DS >>> 3DS is a failure

Vita doesn't do as well as PSP >>> Smartphones are affecting it

Around the Network

The 3DS will likely have sold between 13 and 15 million units in 2012 which is not record breaking but is certainly a very strong pace for any system ... It probably isn't matching Nintendo's expectations (probably around 20 million) but Nintendo has, in my opinion, failed to create the necessary break-out "casual" games to make that happen.

Certainly the 3DS could do better, but it is doing quite well

You are factoring out Vita. Its new and the 3DS is outselling the hell out of it. Vita is its direct competitor. I say that is quite impressive.

I have no response to this that would not qualify as "trolling" the Vita, so I shall refrain and leave that to others who are more creative with the rules than I.

Yeah, I noticed there is a good bit of "unnatural" selection when it comes to what certain individuals label as trolling and what they do not.

That is pretty much the jist of it.

was this reassurance thread really necessary

Yes, yes it was.

Blame NIntendo partially for the sales not being as strong as they could have been. (Note i did not say they were not good, just not as strong)

TWO REASON:
- People still think it is a new version of the DS. They do not know that 3DS is next gen. I have corrected so many people in the game store over the weeks whilst browsing for new games.
- They released TWO pokemon games on DS like 2 months ago. WTF??? put them as 3DS exclusives to sell hardware. Now people will spend time playing those games on their DS rather then upgrade to next gen for a while. Now they will have to wait with the pokemon train before milking it again too soon..

Also in all honesty, I can see the video gaming industry declining rapidly atm.. I am hoping the reason for this is because hardware is getting old, so peopel waiting for new systems. However the handheld market atm I cannot see this gen coming close to last gen handhelds. ALl you need to do is look at western developers, hardly any 3rd party have committed anying to the 3DS yet (or have shown commitment). ATM it is mainly japanese games keeping the system selling
