I own a wii and a DS, I loved the ds but regret purchasing the wii.

too many younglings on this site haha.

My roommate went from commodore 64 to Genesis to PlayStation and when we talk about gaming it seems like he got sucked into the advertisements about being "cooler" than Nintendo but I wouldn't consider him a real hardcore gamer anyway because he only plays sports games.

My first console was the NES and have been hooked ever since!

In Europe, I'd say most gamers have never owned a Nintendo home console, at least until Wii. Nintendo handhelds on the other hand were always popular.

The NES and SNES never were popular here, it was PSX that popularised videogames in Europe, hence Nintendo's weakness here compared to the US and Sony's strength.

Personally, I never owned a Nintendo home console, though I new two people who had a N64, including my cousin, so I played it.

I've owned every Nintendo console, SEGA console, Sony console, and Microsoft console. Nintendo or SEGA consoles are probably the ones I'd hate to have missed out on the most.

Lots of people grew up on Sega and moved to Playstation or Xbox. It's not that strange.

I imagine most people at least own a Wii these days. If you don't you're not missing out on much that a PC can't emulate.

Sinclair Spectrum -> Sega Master System -> Amiga 1200 -> PS1 -> PS2 -> PC (current)

Nintendo ignored Europe till the N64 was released before that I knew more people with Sega Saturn's than Nintendo consoles.

It is hard to believe that people can survive in a world without owning a Nintendo console. I weep for the future.
