Forums - Nintendo - Mass Effect 3 for Wii U : 720p? I thought it was 1080p

The game will not feature 1080p visuals as previously thought.

Mass Effect 3 will be rendered in 720p on Wii U, according to the Australian developer Straight Right who are developing the Wii U version.

It was recently reported in Nintendo Power that the Wii U edition of Mass Effect 3 would feature 1080p visuals. The CEO of Straight Right, Tom Crago, has told NWR that, "The game will run at 720p."

It better be optional! I already played Mass Effect 2 in 720p. I wanna see 3 in 1080p.

Ugh these are pretty annoying times to be interested in WiiU, so much crap info and random speculation flying around >.<

I think there's a real good chance that the game is native 720p, and is upscaled to be output at 1080p just like the X360 version.

If you want 1080p get it on PC, if you don't care get it on 360, I don't see why anyone would get Mass Effect for the wiiu, the whole point of the series is that your choices and experience carry over through save files from game to game and you develop emotional attachments with the characters, jumping in on the third instalment will offer much less of an experience.

I wish I had a powerfull PC, but 720p isnt that bad, so I'll play this on Wii U. Get that "gimmick" on with Sheperd with the Wii U GamePad.

It's not quite the same thing, Mass effect 2 introduces many more sideplots and characters and far more variables than Mass Effect 1 that can't as easily be integrated into an interactive comic. Anyone starting out at Mass Effect 3 is doing themselves a great disservice and the very emotional moments won't carry a lot of weight for those people.

That being said they weren't wrong at all I am a Mass Effect PS3 gamer but the interactive comic does not do it justice for the first game and I have played through Mass Effect 1 on PC at friends places to ensure I have the full experience of the trilogy.

ah, sorry I should have been clearer, I didn't mean that you were wrong with the whole experience, of course just playing the 3rd game of a trilogy wont be the same amount of story and envolvement of enjoying the whole series on either the PC or 360 I more just meant you would be wrong to say that no one will buy it for the wiiu or that it would be a bad move to port it over, between ME2+3 on the ps3 they raked in about 2million sales which is nothing to turn your noses up to. Especially not in this climate of game sales.

So basically unless you don't have a capable pc, ps360, there is no real reason to buy the wiiu version. I wonder if this is due to the hardware or the dev not caring much

Publisher not caring much

It's a pretty solid bet the actual Mass Effect team is too busy making DLC to be involved in a port
