Not a big loss for a company that tries to make money. This studio has made 2 games in 10 years and none of them sold really good either. I'd shut down this studio if I was Sony after they finished (or cancelled) The Last Guardian. These are probably the most unprofitable developers ever. I didn't even like their games, very overrated imo.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

I rented the Ico & SotC collection and for the life of me I can't understand why the few people who played them love them so much... I put 4 hours into Ico and 1 hour into SotC and thought they were among the worst games I've ever played, and how are they even remotely artistic?! Ico has got to have the most hideously designed protagonist I've ever seen and both games have incredibly bland environments, then there's the lack of any trace of a story and soulless characters and the games have awful gameplay to boot. I couldn't care less if The Last Guardian was cancelled and if Team Ico got closed down, they're inefficient, lousy and unsuccessful.

I don't want to turn this into an argument I'm just merely sharing my opinion on the situation with Team Ico, also I don't hate the games for the sake of hating or trolling, I genuinely wish I loved them and I really did try to, but I just don't, at all.

SotC is artistic because it allows you to watch each frame more time since it runs at 20 frames per second when it really matters. It is like watching pictures.

Sony gives its devs complete freedom. What could possibly go wrong?

Guess this answers Kowenekci's question?

I can't remember my question... Lol

Why TLG wasn't closed when the wipeout guys were.

Seems like they're slowley falling apart, and they probably just want to try and push out a finished TLG before disbanding.

Also, some of these replies makes me wonder if this is what a lot of the responses of 3D Realms fans felt about DNF.

What?

Duke Nukem Forever - that took a long time. Got nicknames like 'Duke Nukem Whenever' or the like. In the end the game nearly was cancelled, the studio was going down.

And the game was forgettable.

I get that. I just found Kasz' grammar rather hard to follow in his comment, as to who exactly felt what in his statement is unclear.

Really just both sides of the back and forther arguements of TLG.

Feels the same way, super hyped game, people have waited too long for, frought with developer problems with other develeopers who workd on seperate stuff stepping in.

Even if TLG is great i doubt it'll live up to expecatations now.

Oh another month must have gone buy. Time for another TLG is doomed thread.

But the producer is mia.

Though he worked on both previous Team ICO titles, Kaido was not believed to be affiliated with the studio's next game The Last Guardian, which has undergone a troubled development cycle.

Not TLG's producer.

Ah. Bittersweet then. This is old news then. What was he doing there in the mean time then. 2 games in para?

Good question, maybe he got bored waiting for something to do....

I didn't realize team ico was this big.

If that list is correct then i expect to see all of the people not involved leaving, getting fired or being relocated to other dev teams as time goes by. It's likely they started work on another game sometime ago and that game's been canned along with the studio's future. That's just my prediction, though. I could be wrong.

But do exaggerated expectations really matter, and if so in what way?
I would argue that if TLG simply matched the quality of SotC it would be a fantastic game.

I would consider matching the quality of SoTC as exagerrated expectations.
