I guess it would have its pros and cons. They are trying to be like Apple in controlling the user experience or doing it for some other reason. Right now their PR is doing really bad. Basically every news has been negative regarding this operating system.

Nothing dramatic at all. Since everyone are always online nowaydas it's a logical step for MS to gather some data from its customers (and in return protect them from malware a little). I would have thought they had implemented this in Vista already, it's about time they finally did it.
