Forums - Sales - Japan Sales! Week 33(Aug. 13-19): Famitsu and Media-Create

I guess that its good that they plan to bring the game but I'd rather have a date -.-

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Had hoped for a bit more of a bump this week, but wow at 3ds and nintendo software. The japanese love themselves some ninty.

Blimey, with Sony refusing to cut the price of the Vita until next year I think it would be safe to say it's pretty much buggered tbh...unless there's an exclusive Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter or Final Fantasy title on the way that hasn't been announced yet.

I can't understand the decision making at Sony tbh, they ran away with the 5th and 6th home console generations with modest hardware and have struggled since joining an arms race as far as power goes with the PSP, PS3 and Vita. And going by leaks so far they're doing the same thing with the PS4 - if Sony and Microsoft have their next home consoles retailing for more than 400 dollars/pounds then they might as well not bother releasing them what with the U likely to retail for around 300 with a 2D Mario title as a launch title and Dragon Quest X on the way.

You'll probably see the U having an installed userbase between 10 and 15m before the PS4 and 720 are released, and if they don't both sell well they could very well end up like the PS3 did during the first two years of its life and the Vita now.

A pretty good week! Nintendo dominates! Though I expected a bit more...

Should I be surprised by the Vita not increasing that much?

I think the Wii U will be a failure it look like a PS3 competitor not a PS4 compititor the U had the too much ps3 port with a minor improovement in graphic and highter price then Xbox360 and PS3

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

If anything, PS4 will have to compete with PS3, just like how PSV has to compete with PSP right now.

Meanwhile, WiiU just gobble up all the Wii sales, if any left.

Haha!  Right on.  Funny how this logic works... particularly in the "PS3 will reach 105 million before Wii thread" - only Sony systems are capable of coexistense many say.

Small increases all around... Obon is not that great.

Biggest one was 3DS - 5k - more if you count that it was still decreasing from the XL launch

Don't you mean PS3? 3DS dropped, so did Wii

MC last numbers

102k

This week

111k

Rule number 1, always go for the highest :) (I'm kidding, I usually prefer famitsu's - they cover more stores, and have a top 30. Garaph also uses it)

Famitsu doesn't cover more stores, and Media Create has been used as the de facto for a while.

In fact, there was a large span of time where no one even reported Famitsu numbers.

¿¿?? How do you know that?

Famitsu is always the tracker that has more differences if you compare with the other two trackers (Media Create and Dengeki).

I prefer MC numbers because they always give the First Shipment when the top 500 comes out.

I follow NG threads, and some key members always say this - I can't confirm that, ask there, someone should have the answer, but I think the number is significantly larger. Also, except for DQ, Famitsu and Dangeki really differ that much?

In old days some people even waited for Famitsu numbers for "confirmation".

I read NG as well, and Chris1964 said that MC covers the 53% of the Japanese Market, while Famitsu covers 3.500 stores. As we don't know how manys stores are in Japan, we can't say which one is more reliable.
Famitsu was wrong with FFXIII-2 FW while MC and Dengeki showed similar numbers, and the same happened with Monster Hunter 3G.

What you say is correct, I'm sure how you can say that Famitsu is the most reliable as it's shown time again to not be so.
