Forums - Sony - Vita’s Hot Shots Golf Being Ported to PS3

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/08/21/vitas-hot-shots-golf-getting-ported-to-ps3

From Article:

"The PlayStation Vita launch game Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational happens to be one of the best-selling Vita titles, especially in Japan where it regularly outpaced all other Vita games on the charts for a while after its release. But according to a report on Andriasang, World Invitational – known as Hot Shots Golf 6 in Japan – is no longer a PlayStation Vita exclusive.

Andriasang draws details from a Famitsu report concerning the game being ported to PlayStation 3. It will support crossplay and even the PlayStation Move, as well as downloadable content once only intended for the Vita version of the game.

It will be released in Japan on November 22nd. We’ve reached out to Sony to see if the game will launch in the west – and if so, when – and we’ll update when we hear back."

Hopefully this trend of porting vita exclusives to ps3 continues(most likely it will since SCEJ themselves opened the flood gates). I wont have to buy a vita when a really good exclusive I wanna play comes out on it, just have to wait a while, saving me money. Very good news.

What's interesting about this, is that with all the games ported from PSP to PS2/PS3 over the years, not one was ported by SCEJ. All were games from SCEA/SCEE.

I think that says a lot about the confidence SCEJ currently has in the platform.

Unless Sony is ready to declare the Vita a failure and cut support from it, this proves what a bad idea this announcement is, at least for the future of the console. The Vita needs more exclusive, not to lose the few ones that it already has.

I never really understood why this series is so popular in Japan. I find golf to be pretty boring, guess the Japanese enjoy it.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

It is important to emphasize that this isn't without precedent, as a lot of Sony's PSP stuff was multiplat, even early on.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

What other 1st party games were multiplat?

But contrary to some, this is not a big deal at all to me.

When games like Gravity Rush or Soul Sacrifice gets ported wake me up for the meltdown.

Lots of Syphon Filter and SOCOM games, i think.

The commonality between those games is that they were from territories in which PSP sofwtare sales were fairly tepid.  Syphon Filter, Jack & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank,  MotorStorm, and Twisted Metal games were all ported to PS2, while the God of War titles were ported to PS3.  In Japan, where the PSP was very successful, we never saw any ports to PS2/3 from SCE.

This is a first for SCEJ, and it's happening surprisingly early in the console's life.

Now I won't have to buy a Vita. :)
