Forums - Gaming - Why I've Gone Off Gaming

I haven't games on my PS3 for months now as it is mainly used for Netflix right now. Probably won't touch it again until either PSASBR or late January with NiNo Kuni.

I blame mobile gaming. Nobody to say "Hey, I want to use the TV now." I just get left alone to enjoy my gaming.

part of why i like my vita so very much.  it's like wii U's remote play except i'm not tethered to the living room.  although i do have a dedicated room for video games, it's just nice to play in the same room as my wife from time to time.

Ive very much drifted away now. Been playing LBP with my girlfriend a bit on the weekends but thats it.

I'm now hooked on Minecraft on my phone although, its annoying with no chests common update already!!! Only one more month.

All my reasons for stopping are the same as your BTW

Yeah, I fully agree there. My fiance is currently into Heroes on Netflix and of course I watch it with her. Sometimes though I tend to get a few episodes ahead of her, so while she catches up I whip out either the iPhone or the Vita.

Next month I will make sure to jump ahead by 5 episodes or so because I am most likely going to pour crazy hours into Ragnarok Odyssey.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

If anything i perhaps should back off for a while, save money and expend more of my time in trying to build my skills and work towards a real job.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

it happened to me for 2 years... but come back around the time i got married... less times out with friends, more time indoors, that made gaming as a hobby make sense again. i had many types of hobbies, but gaming its the oldest.

It's just a matter of priorities. You have better things to do. Happens to everyone, especially when building a career, getting married and having kids. Suddenly playing games is waaaayyyy down on the list of things to do and likely mobile games will better suit your lifestyle than console experiences.

I remember being able to waste 100hrs on Buldar's Gate or Guild Wars. Those were good days, but these days are better. :)

I've been playing less myself now and days. I can still pick up my DS to play some Pokemon or EBA every once in awhile. Otherwise most of my gaming takes place when I have friends over and we don't have anything else to do.

honestly he is kinda right, i am also thinking about not playing videogames anymore because i dont wanna end up with the age of 30 still living with my parents and waiting for the new halo or cod or whatever, i am 17 now and wanna make something out of my life....

I feel that way sometimes. I turn on my PS3 and think why did i just do that when i could do something better, more meaningful. So i just do something else, like go for a walk in the nearby forest (i love that!)

While, other days i'm perfectly happy just to play for many hours and just enjoy.
It seems like i only fill like this in the summer though, when i have far to much free time!
I'm just perfectly happy to watch others play games on youtube, sometimes!

I personally don't see gaming, as something i will "grow" out of though. I think i am a gamer for life now

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Then what's the meaning of your life? (If you feel playing games, watching TV & movies and reading novels is a waste of time)

Im not criticizing you at all, I'm just wondering how you set your priorities and how you reason about these things.

Knowledge, while it can be entertaining to gain that knowledge, you also have to ask what is it good for? If it doesn't help your career and bring in more money, then gaining knowledge is just as much a waste of time as gaming.

In the past I was a lot into gaining knowledge, mainly politics and society (and at that time I was in a long period when I didn't play video games). But one day I realized it was meaningless. There was no higher value with that knowledge. Actually it was associated with frustration (if you're into politics you know exactly what I mean) and I started to feel better by ignoring world events and instead concentrating on stuff I really like. That's probably why today I'm deeper into gaming than I ever was in my life.
