The PS3 preorders for Black Ops 2 is outpacing MW3, and I don't understand why.  For xbox COD players, Activision has always treated them well. 

But on PS3, Black Ops 1 was a substandard port (all CODs are a little better on the xbox, but Black Ops1 was especially inferior).  Buggy and inferior graphics (both single and multiplayer).  Then if you paid for PS3 elite, it would be infuriating to get the DLC a month late and just before non-elites.  The treyarch game directors gets eviscerated on their own message board, but it doesn't matter if the preoorder$ are still trending up for them.

When you have no gamez to buy, sometimes 'substandard' ports are your only option.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time if the numbers are severely over-tracked.

Their are not really many PS3 exclusives they can get this holiday so no surprise...

not sure what this has to do with exlusives. a normal customer shouldn't look at exclusive or not, he should buy the games he thinks are great if they are also available for other consoles or not. but there is no other big shooter this holiday that could be the reason (if i don't forget one). last year there was battlefield 3 this year there is medal of honr which lost a llot of the good name the last years.

Not always but it had frequently and eXclusive shooter coming aswell.  I remember the  'I will get Resistance/killzone instead of COD' comments.

It's Call of Duty. Regardless of quality, it's going to sell buckets upon buckets of copies.

I don't recall anyone saying they would get Killzone and Resistance over CoD. I certainly did, because I love those franchises, but the lobbys are pretty much dead, and neither one of them sold like a blockbuster exclusive should have.
