Metro 2033 is one of my favourite games, so it's good to know the sequel will be more polished. Great news.

This was already posted somewhere, but I really enjoyed the game and thought it was well made. Although the gameplay footage for the new one looks amazing.
Wow, Metro 2033 unpolished? I thought it was absolutely brilliant, and it's one of my favorite games this generation.
I can't wait to see the result of a properly supported development then!

I really liked the first one but the game was unpolished , it suffered from a lot of issues especially the AI. There was also some poor balancing with massive dificulty spikes.

this game should have never been a 360 exclusive. obvious M$ paid for that since there 3rd party would have sold more on all together with a ps3 version. which is why i dont think the ps3 version of M2034 will sale as much as the 360/PC version, very dumb since it the original game got decent or average reviews. good way of spending ur money Microsoft.
Note: Only played a Demo of the original on Onlive but i would have bought it on ps3... makes me not want to even get 2034 cuz i wanna know a little back story, im sure even if playing the original is not needed theres probably some references to it which would suck not knowing.. No dice

The game sold twice as much on PC as it did on console though. http://pixelsmashers.com/wordpress/?p=1481
THQ CEO Brain Farrell, let’s everyone in on the secret of how the game sold so well. He stated that most of sales came from European PC gamers, which may not be too surprising considering that some of the developers from the original STALKER were the masterminds behind Metro 2033.
Farrell did reveal that Europe has accounted for roughly two-thirds of Metro 2033 sales, as forecast by the publisher, with North America buying up the remaining units sold. “A lot of the sales were done on PC,” he added, “and a lot of the sales were also done through digital mechanisms that don’t get captured by any service.”
How much they profited on the game was a different story since development supposedly didn’t cost that much to begin with.
The CEO attributed profits to the game’s low-cost development model, “so when we get to even pretty modest levels of sales, we’re still making good money.” (First-time, Eastern European studios make cheap games, apparently.) “And we like that model going forward,” Farrell noted, when it produces a high-quality game.

thats good but a ps3 version would have meant extra money sauce haha.. i just wanted to play m2033 dammit on my flatscreen RAWR.... haha but in all seriousness makes me not consider buying m2034. would be funny though if they pull a holysh*t and included the orginial in with m2034 as a excuse saying we had space on the blu-ray disc :P.

I really think they should really be pushing the sequel. VGC says it's sold just over 600k, but we know that's wrong. if we take into account digital sales on PC I think it'll be over a million, and that's for a game that got NO marketing at all. At least not that I remember.

THQ said it sold 1.5m, 1m of which were on PC.

And over 500k copies of that was sold in Russia, which is quite impressive for Russia.

From what I have read THQ at the time didn't want to fund a PS3 version as FPS games sold better on 360 and they didn't think it would sell well on any platform.
