Looked really good, I'm hoping next gen is better though. Still crossing my fingers on that refrence to next gen being like batman in 60's to the dark knight.

I'm sure it will be, but if early/launch titles look that good then I'll be happy!

Exactly I dont know why some people in here dont agree

I highly optimized console with 8 core and 6Gigs of RAM with no background noise the PCs have would run this without even breaking a sweat as long as it has a decent GPU

well from my last convo with my cousin whose a lead engine designer at Epic, the dev kits they have for the nextbox have 8gb of RAM

don't ask me for anymore info, even getting that out of him was a hassle

Tim Sweeney is your cousin?

Best engine on PC hands down.

One of the top for consoles, only beaten by ND's Uncharted & TLOU Engine, SSM's GoW3 engine and GG's Killzone 2-3 engine.

Considering the above are all exclusives thus the developers only focus on ONE console and Crytek on pretty much all: That is remarkable!

Really?...really?

i agree with him (aldro).

i used to think Crysis 2 was the best looking on console, but when i bought my ps3 a few months ago, i was blown away by the graphics in Uncharted 2 and 3, God of War 3, and Killzone 3.

though i do think Crysis 2 is a bit better looking than Killzone 2.

i dont game on PC so i really cant comment, but im sure the engine is the best PC engine, but on console i dont think so.

I dont get it.

Killzone 3, Uncharted 2, GOW3 all games Ive finished now.

Crysis 2, Rage, and Geow3 are all easily in the same ballpark.

My PS3 isnt on some other level. Even the exclusives.

Crytech recently had a quote about next gen specs as well

" last year we took some of the most high-end PC set-ups that we could find and build, and defined those as the assumed specifications for the next generation. And whilst we think that was quite accurate, we cannot say today exactly what the real specs will be.

But the approach today, I would suggest, is to take, not the very best, but a high-end PC and start working on a high-end PC game. That should give you a quite accurate or quite good base for developing for the next generation."

http://www.vg247.com/2012/08/07/crytek-interview-whats-next-for-games-development/

considering that Crytek must have next gen dev kitts, and a good idea of what the actual specs will be, that suggests that next gen is similar in performance too, a i7 990X, 8GB+ RAM and a GTX 580 1.5GB/HD 6970 2GB. Which suggests we won't see them next year lol.

its just my opinion.

i used to game on only xbox, and i though Gears 2 was the best looking until crysis 2, but then i got a ps3 and those games blew me away.

any way i feel Crysis 2 is by far the best looking game out of the 3 you listed, Rage really isnt that good looking if you pay attention. it doesnt belong on that list Gears 3 and Crysis 2 look vastly better. Rage only looks good if you are just glancing at the screen not paying much attention. theres so much pop in with Rage, every thing is static, low rez stuff all the time, baked in lighting and really it looks like everything is baked in.

but like i said it my opinion, if i were to make a list it would look something like this

Uncharted 3 > Killzone 3, Uncharted 2 > God of War 3 > Crysis 2 > Killzone 2 = Gears 3.

rage just didnt impress me.

Call of Duty BO2 on ma 360 looks so much better dawg!
Maaan those rich people with their PC stuff lol...All you need is an Engine from 1999,broken gameplay and 60 fps on da exbox360

Now for real
This is insane - Stuff like this,Battlefield 3 and of course PS3 Exclusives show how much Developers have to hold back cause of the weakest system they can develop on.
We need new consoles so PC Gaming in general isn't held back any longer - All games could look like that NOW if developers didn't need to adjust their stuff to 3-4 different systems from the weakest to the PS3 and PC.

But as long as there are people that are happy to invest a lot of money in Kinect Games and milked franchises this process is going to take a long time. Not even on Next Gen consoles we will directly see such stuff cause CoD will still look like crap and will sell 25 Million units.

So its nice to see that some developers like DICE and Crytek are going all out.Especially Crytek has a lot to prove cause they messed up with Crysis 2 cause they wanted to run that game perfectly on consoles.

I think some media and alot of people used graphics to give PS3 a + point early on and it stuck.

Killzone 3 for me which I still play a bit online every now and then is disappointing visually compared to other games like Uncharted, Geow 3 and Crysis 2. So many times there is really low poly scenery in cutscenes and in general not that impressive. I actually prefered Killzone 2 overall in singleplayer from all aspects.

After playing Killzone 3, Im currently playing through Crysis 2 on Supersoldier and definately think Crysis 2 is visually better.

Uncharted 3 I havent played yet. But Uncarted 2 looked great, but not on some other level that people claim. Animation wise to. Animations are great, but clip way to much into sceneary. So many times while climbing up from hanging Nates knees and feet are suspended in mid air or are not flush to the scenery hes on. Geow 3 for example to me has better textures.

Basically playing Geow 3 again after Killzone 3 and Uncharted 2 made me realise all the talk is a load of unnecessary hot air.

On topic. The Crysis 3 video in the OP kicks 10 bails of crap visually out of any PS3 and 360 game currently by a long way.

Rage, is impressive to me because it runs at twice the framerate wic to me helps the visuals as much as the gameplay.

thats fine i have my opinion, you have yours. but it sounds like you may be just a little biased, and i think most tech analysists would disagree with you.

I agree opinion is opinion.

Ive read all the tech articles, many of which seem to focus on certain things without taking the whole picture into considertaion.

For example: When Uncharted 2 looks its best, I didnt have full control of the camera or my character. The same in GOW3. Killzone doesnt do this. Is that why it doesnt look as good Uncharted?

Games like Killzone 3, Crysis 2, Rage, Geow3 even Battlefield 3 95% of the time give the player 100% control.

When I ave 100% control in Uncharted 2 or GOW3, it doesnt look as good as when it is taking control away from me. I would be far more impressed if I was controlling the character and camera in the train derail of Uncharted 2 for example than just watching it. Or like Crysis 2 when the helicopter crashes into the building I have full control, as opposed to control taken away from me in Uncharted 2 when the building starts to collapse with me in it.

It seems more fair to compare that to cutscenes of Geow3 for example. Because there is a noticeable difference in graphics quality when player control is taken away.

Its clever on the developers part, but isnt comparable to full control. Because when a dev selects what you see and control it frees up resources to do more visually.

Thats not to say Uncharted 2 or GOW3 arent impressive, I'm saying from playing all of them this is what stands out straight away.

I enjoyed Uncharted 1 more than Uncharted 2 because it was a full on game. It didnt keep taking my control away. Also the whole bit with following the wierd indian bloke into te ice cavern and fighting those badly designed creatures could have been left out. That was boring and not needed. The rest of the game was good though.
