Forums - General - Hot grease all over my hand! Ideas for treating the pain pleas

Well it's so late now but immediately after it happened the best thing to do was to just hold it underneath cold water for literally AGES (possibly half an hour or more)...it would prevent the burn from getting worse and by then the pain should've gotten less. Then ice pack. Then ointment/aloe vera etc.

Funny, any time I get burned the first thing I do is put my hand underneath hot (above room temp) running water. Cold water makes the pain feel worse, but the hot water works wonders and prevents blisters from forming. Ask anyone in the restaurant business and they will probably tell you the same.

Medical guidelines say cold water, it's most effective for minor burns.

Cool the burn. Hold the burned area under cold running water for at least five minutes, or until the pain subsides. If this is impractical, immerse the burn in cold water or cool it with cold compresses. Cooling the burn reduces swelling by conducting heat away from the skin. Don't put ice on the burn.

I know above room temperature water (lukewarm not hot) is also meant to help but not sure of anything else.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

What will you now do when you wifey ain't home? can't fap to your Kindle porn while on the shitter anymore.
I've heard these words before. That's usually what she says, pain but as if the sounds of moan, but it's my own experience of hot grease. To each his own, I guess.

I agree with the running cold water over it.

Water also helps sun burns that get so bad that they itch uncontrollably.  The only time I went to spring break in college I got a semi nasty burn on my chest.  I couldn't control the itch and even breaking open and spreading an aloe plant that was growing outside on my chest didn't help.  Sure I could have used some over the counter anti itch medication but I didn't have a car nor did my friends care that much (nor did I) to take me to a store to get a remedy.  I ended up taking a 30 min or more shower just standing there letting the water hit my chest.  Lo and behold the itch went away or at least controllable.

Same thing happens to me with allergic reaction to cut grass.  I am not really allergic to anything but apparently cut grass.  I can roll around in uncut grass but the second it is cut with lawnmower and the clippings are on the ground if I roll around in it then I can't stop itching.  I used the shower method when I was a kid.  Some reason I never learned my lesson to not play around in the grass after it was cut.... Not sure why I told you all these stories but fuck it.  I hope it amused someone.

Ceran wrap and a bed mattress, left hand, etc.

It feels much better today. Just three large red blotches with a largish blister in the biggest blotch.

Of the ceran wrap and bed mattress or my less than interesting burn? That is the thing about burns, they can hurt like hell but they are nothing special to look at when you are thinking of gross out factor. It was on my palm so it was not a huge bubble blister like you might have got on some other part of your body. Skin too rough. I am a middle aged man unlike you, Rainbow yoshi, Ninpie, and Truckosaurus.

Ninpie is a middle aged man. We've been through this.

what about in dog years?
