it is the same, you see all kinds of threads belittleing the wii U's graphic capabilities as unimportant.  The ports don't show it much off but there was that game night (or whatever) thread not too long ago.  I can see a pretty clear distinction between ps360 capabilities and wii U capabilities on games actually make for the wii U.  wii U is clearly better.  we are still going to see those threads all the way up until the nextbox and ps4 are announced when clearly their graphical prowleness will be touted. 

please, read all i write and stop saying what i don't even mean. i still just answered spurges question if graphics matter to games and meant that at the end it matter for many, even for those who said it doesn't matter as long as they get better graphics and then many care from one to the next moment.

i didn't say nintendo fans are graphic whores. i said (or meant) people, me as example, are called graphic whore by some because graphics are very important to people like me and this gen because wii had worst graphics, some nintendo fans said they don't need better graphics like 360 or ps3 graphics and some of them who said that talk a lot about wii u graphics and how great they are now, even if they said they don't care about graphics. and like i also said, it has nothing to do with nintendo fans in general, it would have been the same if 360 would have had the worst graphics this gen.

Well, that's what he (Rein) thinks, or wishes, not what will happen. 

But we'll see in 5 years.

The discussion about graphics: games like "The Last of Us" or "Beyond" look incredible, in pictures. In movement we all see that those graphics can still be improved. So for me, if the next gen consoles gives me graphics like the ones of those games, but with better and smoother animations and more integration with the environment, I'd be happy.

Well, I don't really agree with that graphics mentality - I mean, favorite system ever is the DS.

I don't really think most Nintendo fans agree also, since Nintendo games (the main course of all Nintendo systems) don't really need major graphical power to cause an impression.

The only thing that was missing from Wii to me, and it was a major turn down in modern TVs, is resolution. The GBA was sharp, the DS is sharp, 3DS is sharp... Wii looks like an n64 on HDTVs. Not graphics, as the Dolphin emulator clearly can show, at least to most, just resolution, imo.

Graphics matter, but in the way Happydolphin described. Not in that "now that we have, we can gloat like you described)

Sucks that you were called a graphics whore. I was called a graphics whore myself for complaining about NSMB2's preview screenshots, before the game was fully shown to the public. Goes to show, people just like to call other people things.

Anyways as Vic said, most of us Nintendo fans love graphics, we just don't praise it as the be all end all like some of the newer gamers that are fans of the twins do. Different mentality, different judgement calls.

The title of this article is a misleading misrepresentation of what was said. Never does he actually say that the leap is like going from adam west batman to dark knight rises.....he said peoples taste change and having experienced both batman types...he couldn't see himself going back to the adam west version, not that the leap will be of that magnitude. Such blatant misrepresentations is just sad.

i have no prob with that. if the definition is that a graphic whore loves to see great graphics then i am one. i played 10 hours or so terraria the last week so it's not as if i wouldn't still play these kind of games but i just love to play a game like the witcher 2 and see all these nice textured clothes and whatever. i would also like the games with only average graphics but i love to see great graphics when i see them and i see no reason why someone shouldn't like to see great graphics. the feeling to walk through a wood with the light shining through the leaves and great shadows on walls/the ground is increasing the experience for me a lot and i often just stand there to watch the landscape for some minutes.

It better have vastly improved graphics.

Theres a lot of people in here complaining they dont need great graphics but honestly thats one of the biggest ways console developers convince consumers early in a consoles life span to jump on board.

If the next generation of consoles only gets a modest boost in power then they are in huge trouble
