To convince me they need to show new and exciting IP's and internet play without fees. Aslong as those two stay in the state they are, i still think microsoft is gonna fail next gen.

When they announce Xbox 3 doesn't really matter to me. I will buy both consoles no matter what.

Both the original Xbox and the X360 were unveiled on MTV during the month of May (the same year as launch). The Xbox Infinite will also be unveiled in May, Microsoft always throws their own events for it.

Why would they risk taking the focus off of their console when they're trying to drive holiday sales with Halo 4?  What a completely baseless article.

Weird article. They actually expect it to be called "Xbox 720" for starters.

Then on one paragraph they say: "... majority expect a thin, sleek machine in similar fashion to the current console" ... Then they follow it up with: "The 360 in not exactly a thin and sleek device and there is an idea that this will still remain relatively chunky". Which one is it?

They also say: "recent tablet rumors have given us reason to believe that the unveiling could coincide with the release of the Wii U".  Now, even if they did "unveil" the console close to Wii U's launch (which I highly doubt), that does not mean that the actual launch of the Nextbox would be anytime sooner.

Who are expecting it to be called the "XBox 720" outside of those who are stumped for a name and think Microsoft has in mind to double the value of 360 to get a new name.  What exactly does 720 mean in regards to the console outside of being double 360?

Both the Xbox and X360 launched in November, so I can't imagine it will be any different with their next machine.

In regards to the name, 720 is like pretty much a lock not to happen.  Nextbox is short for Next XBox.  Calling it the next XBox makes more sense than 720, by a wide margin, and can be used for every future XBox also. It would refer to the XBox system to be released.

What the heck does 720 stand for?  Is one now following Atari console naming convention suddenly, where you double the value of the number, or add 360 every time you want to go next generation, mean that the generation after that will be 980?  So the XBox system after the XBox 720 will be the XBox 1080?  Yes, the generation after the next one will be a 1080 base system, while this one is true 720P. 

Don't think the free network play is coming, I remember reading (I think it was on the Motely Fool, an investing journal) that Microsoft's network division was one of their biggest drags on the company. It was an article on the Xbox/360/"Next" so I assume the division includes the Live network in all of its forms. I will try to find the link.

They also seem a little tepid on the Sony/Genki deal but I haven't really read that one through yet.
