Ron Paul is almost as bad as Huckabee when it comes to breaking down the wall of separation between church and state:

If you don't believe what he does then just don't vote for him.
Who has called anyone an idiot?

Down with Obama, seriously there are no great candidates, I'm leaning towards Hilary but i dunno she's not that great either.

no seriously vote Obama no matter how much you hate him. If it comes down to Romney or Huckibee vs Obama in the election I'm voting Obama even though I'm republican. If I were you I'd pray that John Mccain or another repub, that isnt Romney or Huckibee, wins the primaries or edwards wins the primaries so you dont have to vote for either Hilary or Obama at the end.

That's how my vote goes basically.

Mccain

Democrats

Other Republicans

Any third pary candidate

Huckabee

I for one want him or Romney to win the republican nomination: One will get very few votes from actual conservatives, because he's a big government theocrat that would spend more than the democrats. The other will not get a single vote from an Evangelical or a Southern Baptist, because they'd rather vote for Satan than for a Mormon.

I completely agree with you, Romney would be a disaster for the republicans.. that's why I was so excited to hear that he won in Michigan yesterday. Hickabee would be even easier to defeat. John McCain is the only republican who I am concerned about, his record on unnecessary military action is even worse than bush's but people have a sort of veneration for him.

Funny you guys mention the separation of church and state, when it's never implied in the constitution or any federal document in the 1700's.

You must be familiar with the first amendment. It is certainly implied by not allowing congress to make laws "..respecting an establishment of religion." I don't understand why anyone would make the argument that the framers of the constitution ever intended to make a state religion.. these words are very clear and have been upheld by courts for over 200 years.

Thomas Jefferson, in a letter to a Baptist congregation in Connecticut written in 1802, expanded upon this principle. The text of this letter is also very clear:

...

Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.

...

There you have it.

A wall of separation.

Edit: Final-Fan already posted this excerpt from the Danbury letter. My bad, and well done, sir.

Ron Paul is likely the best candidate America has ever had :) Hilary wants to ban scary videogames, just like Huckabee.

No. She doesn't. Hillary Clinton wants to regulate games in the same way that alcohol and tobacco products are, by age restriction. She wants to fine people who sell them to people without proper ID.

I do NOT agree with this position, but it is not the same thing as a ban.

Wow. Congratulations on completely missing the point. The original poster is talking about how Huckabee wants to amend the US Constitution to reflect HIS OWN PERSONAL RELIGIOUS BELIEFS. You should really read things before you respond to them.

All of the major candidates of both parties believe in God, or at least, say they do.

^^I wasn't posting to the original poster.

Nobody in this thread claimed Huckabee was an idiot because he believes in God. If they did, I missed it.
