GAH! I hope that is net and not gross. No way I am dropping $10,000 on a ring. I think about 2-3 grand is fairly acceptable as long as the ring looks nice and is well made maybe as high as 5 grand. Than again I would rather put that money into a home.

Personally I don't think it really matters how much you spend but how nice it is.

Shrug, let me say the underlying message:

We may not understand, we may have different perspectives, spent too much, it's meaningless, but we all want your marriage to be worth far more than the money you just spent.

Well, that was my interpretation. Although I am with the spent too much crowd, but I'm a frugal bastard, and hope nothing but the best!

Also, a nice little rule of mine: A relationship is between 2 people. No matter what other people tell you, and I'm sure you know people love to tell you about relationships, (Hey, wait a sec)... always remember, it's only the 2 of you.

Where did you buy the diamond? I was looking at blue nile, I love how easy they make picking the diamond out but I hate the actual rings they have. Plus it seems more expensive then I thought.

The engagement ring I bought my wife cost $1500 (give-or-take), and that's fairly cheap for one (of quality, at least), too. You can get 'em much cheaper... if you want to sacrifice quality. Her wedding band cost $300.

This ring is a sign of how much this person means to you. It's an outward display of affection, and it's expensive for a reason - because she's supposed to mean that much to you.
