Forums - Sports - The NFL Thread 2012: Baltimore Ravens win Super Bowl XLVII

Who will win the Super Bowl? Part II

Denver Broncos 24 18.75%

New England Patriots 14 10.94%

Houston Texans 1 0.78%

Baltimore Ravens 29 22.66%

Glasgow Rangers 3 2.34%

Atlanta Falcons 4 3.13%

San Francisco 49ers 29 22.66%

Green Bay Packers 4 3.13%

Seattle Seahawks 6 4.69%

I am a wuss, but I want to see the results. 12 9.38%

Total:126

Problem is as long as the fans keep going to the stadium and watching games on TV the owners won't bulge an inch....

If I was a packer fan I would wear a referee shirt to the next packer home game,
If 60 000 fans did that, maybe the NFL owners would understand that people are getting really pissed .
Seriously, replacement owners would do a much better jobs than those replacement referee, so maybe the referee are not the ones that can be disposed off...

so seattle got it then, wow what a week,

over here in english soccer the refs are always right, they disallow goals, give wrong red cards every week but we have to take it and its very annoying,i thought the NFL because of tv replay got over this kind of stuff, how much are the refs asking for,NFL is super rich isn't it,refs are a part of sport in my opinion can't play without them

Packers were robbed plain and simple. These so called, "refs" need to go now. As a football fan and a Packers fan I'm ashamed to even have watched that game. It was only a matter of time before something like this happened, and things wont get any better until Goodell gets off his fucking high horse and does something. I'm not watching any football until the official refs are back.

They need to just pay the refs. the NFL is loaded.

I can't stand the packers but they did get robbed blind. Only a matter of time before they rob the Bears. So as a rival of yours, atleast we agree on this. LOL

DA BEARS.

P.S Next game is ours.

Wow, I wake up and see this thread has 85 new posts. That's more posting than the entire weekend. I knew something crazy must've happened.

Gonna go watch Sports Center now!

The Steelers blew it on Sunday and lost against the crappy Raiders.

But yes, handegg is really popular over here. The local newspaper ran an article today (well, more like a small paragraph), mentioning that the 49ers and Saints lost.

Sadly I don't know much about the rules of A.Football, I've seen the video regarding the packers "cheat" and I'm not sure what the complaint is. Is it the guy getting pushed at the beginning of the clip or...?

With replacement refs calling the games for the first week and maybe beyond, a lot of these match ups are going to determined by officiating. Its a third leg that in most years you don't even think about but I can see many a game being determined by how the whistle blows. August 30th

Honestly I would have exptected that a ref blowing a game for a team would have happened later on in the season and not week 3, not a good product on the field currently, most games are not watchable.

The fisaco will continue until the normal refs are put back in.

You missed the game and the gifs earlier?

Anyways, during hail Mary end of the game like throws towards the endzone refs do not call interference for almost anything. Still it has long been clear Tate wrestled the ball out of  Jennings hands in a very fast crash and scuffle. The main problem to me is that the ref confirmed it as a touchdown when everyone else sees it is not a touchdown in slow motion.

Seriously, I wonder if the refs are sick of the hell they faced  these three weeks in so many different games the ref wanted out so made such a bad decision the league would have to pay the refs more.

Edit: Sports threads need to be more lenient on bans here because there is a lot more reason to get pissed off than in some console war arguement.

I missed the game, because it was in the middle of the night. Every now and then there will be a Night game that I watch, but it needs to be a big game. Certain types of gifs stutter on this Macbook for some reason, so the Youtube video was the first time I got a clean look on the whole incident.

Maybe the NFL should overrule the call of the referees and give Green Bay the win, but that would open up discussions for other games as well.

Regarding bans, sports and console wars aren't any different. In both cases there are people who root really hard for their team and/or against others.

EDIT: This shouldn't be misunderstood. I am not calling for bans in this thread, just pointing out that sports and video game fans aren't different.

The NFL would never, and I strongly emphasize never overrule a call made on the field after the fact. One, it opens the door for fans to start claiming many games should be changed after the fact. And, it would also show horrible PR as fans would claim favoritism to the Packers. The Packers are a polarizing team at it's highest and many love them, but many more  dislike or hate them. They would not risk shaking up the system like that ever, this is not the World Wrestling Entertainment.

Well, I am saying that there is more benefit towards pride in ones' team than pride in ones' product, as a team can represent and do so much for a community at large while there is no real unifying and mutual benefit to getting mad over what others say about a corporation that is far from benefiting any community, it mostly benefits itself alone aka capitalism is benefited alone . But, that is a discussion for a wall or another thread.

man o man!!! I didn't think there would be this big of an eruption on here., and I thought the NE VS. BAL game was bad.every sports show is talking about that botched call, the Packers were robbed(but LMAO at those angry Aron Rodgers pics) for all we know this could hurt the Packers in the long run. to people who aren't phased by this really need to; this can happen to your team; I fear what might happen to my G-men next week....the NFL needs to stop being greedy and get the professional refs back, you're a multi-billion dollar organization and you can't throw a couple thousands to pay the guys who make the sport safe?

and to top it all these refs are star-struck; we all know about the supposed ref that was a saints fan and he put it on is twitter account that he was officiating a Saints game, or the other ref who told LeSean McCoy of the eagles that he was on his fantasy team. Stephen A. Smith from First Take said "God forbid if some of the refs are taking money off the field to throw bogus calls(or miss obvious calls)"
