The arrow's definitely going up in Oakland. Hard not to when your team is no longer run by the Cryptkeeper. But they had so many bad contracts, so few draft picks, and so little money on hand this year that the improvement is going to be deferred. I expect them to actually be a mite worse this year.

As is my duty as a life long Broncos fan, I feel I must say I hope Sebastian Janokowski stays injured a long time. One of the best kickers of all time who tied Jason Elam's all time  longest field goal of 63 yards on Broncos grass. Screw him! Why not a Niners fan? They have won superbowls more recently than the Raiders.

@ Broncos fans and all too. Peyton would have killed the niners had he and all the other staters played the whole game. 17 points in one quarter over last years best defense to zero. Things are looking promising for that old guy!

Tebow looked great for the Jets going 4 for 14 in his last preseason performance. Looks like he is no longer blessed by the mile high city.

I probably will skip it as most of the starters will not play and it really is a game meant to give guys on the chopping block one last chance to make the team. Funny people are mostly picking the steelers because the current predictions of the game have the steelers and Broncos at close to 50% odds towards winning. Can hardly wait!

How are things in Minnesota? Who is going to be their QB? Last year they brought in Ponder after McNabb showed that he isn't up to the task anymore. Jacksonville is another very weak team from last year. I think I've read that they are sticking with... Gabbert?

Anyway, the Vikings look to have the more capable offense, but the Jaguars have a solid defense (or at least they had last year). It's just that their offense was horrible.

Carolina @ Tampa Bay is another one of those games with two bad teams from last year. I suppose the Panthers will continue to bank on Newton, but I have no idea how much (if at all) the Bucs improved.

Eh, it's week 1. In general, I am just going to pick teams based on last season's final standings and in the cases where I am undecided I will pick who I want to win. Or better yet, I'll just copy-paste ljigga's predictions.

The Vikings are still going with Ponder.  An ancient Donovan McNabb would probably be a better option.  Jacksonville is going with Gabbert agian.  Also their best player, Maurice Jones-Drew, is still holding out for a contract.  Things do not look good for either of those teams in my opinion.  The Jaguars do have a pretty solid defense though as you said.

I'll let you figure out the Carolina @ Tampa game.

Copying ljigga's picks is always a good option.

This is no different than how he performed for the Brioncos last year.  You were blinded by all of the Tebowmania going on in Denver and now that he's gone, you can see him for the subpar QB that he really is.  The Broncos defense and kicker were more vital to the team's victories than Tebow.

It is different in that he won almost every game in the 4th quarter with a lot of incredible runs. Look, the guy throws a ball like a man with paralysis. But , when it comes to heart and perseverance, and divine blessings from the holy one he is champ. Anybody who saw all the Broncos games knows this, as we all saw his aura flashing wildly before each 4th quarter comeback last year. Prater had the points, but statistically that was one of Prater's worst years with the Broncos through both points scored and field goal percentage. Prater did better for Orton. The O-line for the Broncos also is underrated and really the key for success along with the defense. Look, Tebow could still walk the walk in NY. I truly believe he was sent there to cleanse the city of sin and debauchery. He would have gone to Vegas had they had a team.

Also, Bill Parcells says the Bears will win the superbowl. How could he be so blind to believe this when it will be a tough task to even win the division next to the Packers, and the Detriot misdemeanors.

Yeah, you're right.  Bill Parcells doesn't know anything about football.  The Lions weren't a fluke last year and the Packers defense is excellent.

Way to troll. Where is a mod when you need one?

The Packers defense was ranked among the top 32 in the NFL last year, so it can't be that bad.

You're right and I apologize.  The Packer's defense might be slightly better than the USC Trojan's.

Hey now, I was trying to give you an opening to say why you thought the bears are a better team this year. Cutler said they will win the title, he has faith. I am just saying if the Giant,s one of the worst teams to ever win it can do it any team potentially can. Except the Browns. I mean hardly anyone, but a diehard Giants fan would say they expect another title run. The Giants are just better than average and not exceptional. This also suggests the Packers and Patriots can easily crash and burn again too.
