I wouldn't want one if they were $100

I'm surprised more people have't woken up to Apple overcharging for basic tech with a shiny case.

Obviously you don't like apple, so why are you in this discussion.  I paid $200 for my  16gb iphone 4s and it does way more stuff than I actually need and I still have at least 8gb of storage left.  I think the price is pretty fair IMO.

Actually I am surprised that Apple doesn't charge even more. Apple customers generally don't look what else is out there that can do the same thing when they are buying something. They only buy what Apple offers.

On topic: No way will apple release an 800 dollar iphone with a contract. I wish people would stop getting so angry over a stupid rumor. And once I read that it was in china, I obviously knew it was fake. Isn't that all china does is create fake iPhones and sell them as real.

They already do in Europe.

iPhone 4S 16GB from T-mobile is £36/month plus £49 upfront for 24 month contract, that's $1388. Not even unlimited.

Good point

Actually a lot of the time there are cheaper phones that do a whole lot more.

They have more features on paper but the user experience is terrible (bugs, slow interface and scrolling) and they are just as locked down as Apple.

The only decent Android experience is on the highest end phones like the Galaxy S3 - which cost the same as the 4S i.e. over $1300.

Well when you look at it with the monthly payments it is pretty expensive, but just buying the phone itself, in the US, it's $200.  Then if I were to add on the monthly payments, especially with my families, which is 200 a month with 6 people, my mom pays a lot for our iphones.  This is at AT&T.

If you want just the wholesale phone cost, it's £500 = $775 to replace a 4S on that contract if it breaks. It's also about that on amazon.co.uk unolcked.

I bet that's a 12 month contract though. More of that cost is the phone cost, compare over 24 instead.

Having owned and used both Android products and Apple products I can say I had just as many bugs with iOS as I do with droid.

On pricing I'm only going on what it is in Australia where Apple seem to arse rape everyone a litttle bit extra over pricing.

It seems like the US always has cheaper prices. I don't really know why.  Probably mostly comes down to the strength of each currency.
