This is repeat of the $299 thread, but as more details emerge, the range could be from $199 to $299, so i put up this new thread.

Each machine is about $150. So give a 50% gross margin that'll be about $225.

There has been no official press releases from Walmart. Official press releases came from the Taiwanese company.

Back in the day, Apex digital released a DVD player for $99 (while Sony was charging $300 to $500 for DVD players) and quickly became the #1 DVD player manufacturer in the world. It is likely that if you could produce an HD-DVD player at a low enough price that people who had very little interest in HD content and owned an HDTV would likely buy the player
