US$ 24 billion dollar loss ? is that right ?

I'm pretty sure the $45m loss was caused by PSV sales.

I find hard to believe that PS3 is still being sold at loss.

Where does it say that?

He is assuming the total loss is $24b US dollars, so he probably thinks PS3 is still being sold at a big time loss.

Misleading titles can have that effect.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Didn't they buy that video / game streaming service?

I think he knows the 24b is wrong, he got the $45m gaming division loss correct.

Saw thread title and thought "Holy hell! That is what Stringer finds stimulating?!"

Then I see that it is NOT dolars and instead it is Yen.

Change that title, lol.

Still very, very far from stimulating, yoy is massively down.

Let me illustrate;

Sony Corp achieved the same revenue as last year for the quarter and yet operating income down 77%.

thats is staggering!

Gaming achived a 14% drop in revenue in a period when a new console was available.

Well, it's still stimulating when you realize it isn't $24.6b US dollars.

So no effect on these numbers?

found this in the accounts: FY forecast:

Game

Primarily due to the lowering of the annual unit sales forecast for portable hardware, sales are expected to be

significantly lower than the May forecast. Due to the above-mentioned decrease in sales and the impact of
unfavorable exchange rates, operating income is expected to be significantly below the May forecast. Sales are
expected to be essentially flat and operating income is expected to decrease significantly year-on-year.

So they expect no change ion revenue in come but a massive drop in any operaring income and as a result any potential profits.

Makes sense with the upcoming ps3 and vita price drops, the volume sold will be higher but since they are selling for less, less operating income.

Since they paid for it in cash, I dont see any impact on the numbers outside the normal higher expense (adding more employees to your payroll)

No Japanes companies do FX hedging?
