Forums - Sales - 3DS LL 193k, NMB2 431k in 2 days

Really nice 3DS numbers. The question is if NSMB2 numbers include digital downloads sold at stores or not.

I'm not aware of any sales charts that include digital numbers.  Those would be really difficult to track.  The only way for them to get those numbers would be if Nintendo gave them their internal sales information, since it's all done privately through the eShop.

Really nice Japanese 3DS LL numbers. Looks like it's the most successful launch of a hardware redesign ever.

PSP-2000 begs to differ

It had four days of sales though.

That made me think.

Maybe it's more interesting to compare the '1-Day Averages' or whatever you'd want to call it, to put everything in better perspective. Redesigns are in italics, bold is new entry;

Judging by this, we see that PSP, 3DS and PSV (yes) all had an exceptional launch, with 3DS being the winner, with over 150,000 sales on an average launch-week day. GBA and DS also had good launches, with over 100,000. 3DSXL actually takes the crown for most succesful redesign, ahead of the DSi and PSP-2000. The DSLite had apparently actually quite a disappointing launch, with less than 20,000 sales on an average launch-week day, being worse than the GameBoyMicro and the PSP-Go.

EDIT: formatting's a *****. Tables are annoying.

I don't think the LL will have the same effect as the DS Lite but those are pretty good numbers. A little low for NSMB2 though.

It's only been 2 day's.

From NG:

That's good news here:

[NDS] New Super Mario Bros. - First day sales (480,000) - First week (865,024).

[Wii] New Super Mario Bros. Wii - First day sales (420,000) - First week (936,734).

First week = 4 days.

It shows that 2 days from NSMario 2 is actually not that bad. It's a little lower, but if we count digital sales it might approach the other games. And better yet, we can expect good numbers for next week too.

Maybe 75-125k for digital sales?

It would be best to not include the NSMBWii numbers, since it launched in mid-November and was the marquee holiday Wii release that year.  Not exactly a fair comparison to the other two which launched in May and July/August.  I'd say 150k or more for digital.

If the XL manages 100k next week it will really sell more or less the same as Vita did the whole year! Not in a month as I said before, but in 2 weeks!

Simply wow!
That is unbelievable - on both ends of the spectrum.

Does NSMB2 have a chance to top 1 million week 1 with digital downloads included?

The bad thing now is that 3DS released a lot of ammunition for this launch so next game release is a month away now - a great release Shin Megami Tensei - Soul Hackers (with 4's trailer), but still a month away! Senran Kagura in the same day too, which shall sell nicely too.

So we'll have to wait till august 30th to be the next good day for Japan - since Hatsune Miku will be released for Vita too that day. Mario will have to be strong to maintain the hype lol!

obs. Portables only here! DQ X will put things on fire this month too.

By the way... Do we know how much the new Brain Age did?

Tomorrow's numbers are going to be very interesting.

Not yet. Just tomorrow I guess, since japan is in sleep mode right now.
