Ahh... now that one I can't answer for you I'm afraid, you'd have to ask someone who was actually in the beta what that was like.

One thing I would say though, is don't completely disregard it.  A lot of the games I've seen who boast higher playcounts (MAG, Resistance 2 etc.) tend to split the battles up into smaller teams of say, 10 v 10, so it does feel like more personal battles.  Then you'd still occassionally get large-scale warfare as well.

In a worse case scenario, the game is free so you can just give it a go when it comes out :)

They have that pack on the UK PSN for like £13... it says it gets you ready for war or something.  I was wondering what that was, really.

Does it have a party system like Uncharted, COD etc? Mag and Socom didnt if this does the same it will suffer the same fate.

Ability to team with friends is essential in multiplayer.

People said the same positive things for Star Hawk and Twisted Metal betas yet they didn't exactly receive glowing reviews. What's so amazing about this game that differentiates it from the other FPS games in the market? Also what sort of interaction do you get with the PC community for EVE?

No Twisted Metal beta was broken, it got criticized alot for it. Whats up with you trying to downplay those games? Twisted Metal and Starhawk seem to have a good score on Metacritic, nothing exceptional but favorable reviews. You're also in my other thread complaining PS All Stars only has 3.5/5 on HK store.

Nintendo pay me to make you paranoid. I'm just asking genuine questions. Also high 70s are good scores, but they're not glowing, nothing wrong with that, I'm not bad mouthing anything. I'm just tired of getting hyped and being disappointed in the end.

Did they?  I seem to remember Twisted Metal's beta getting hounded for being a) a week before the launch and b) buggy as hell.

Then again, if the praise was "it's a lot of fun", then that's probably correct - the game is a lot of old-school style fun, it was just plagued with connection issues at launch.

In terms of Starhawk, I think (although I may be wrong) that the game got the marks it got for having a pretty below average single-player campaign, which it does.  The actual multiplayer component seems to have been praised quite a bit.  I'm certainly still enjoying it two months later.
