Forums - Nintendo - Ubisoft: Wii U games cost less than $1 million to port

I don't see why this is a bad thing...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Around the Network

Obviously some ports cost more than others, but 1 million pretty much confirms that ports are easy to do, like Nintendo and others have said, and that it won't be hard for developers to make their money back from those ports.

But the question, as some has said, is how much will ports from PS4/nextbox cost.

Please excuse my bad English.

tons of super-late ports incoming on WiiU!!!

An just one thing : will PS4/Xbox3 games be really easy and cheap to port? Game engines won't be the same, just like the current era.

Who know's? Are they out yet?

We will have to wait.

1 Million Euro? For a simple port of a game?

The developers of Darksiders2 said something about that it took five weeks for three programmers to made a working port of Darksiders 2 for Wii U. And that was the first experience of this programmers with Wii U.

It seems Ubisoft employees earns much money ... or they are a lot of slower than the Darksiders 2 programmers.

If these ports are not simple ports but extended for Wii U, the 1 Million Euro could be possible, but for a straight port this is hilarious.

Vigil Games, the developers of Darksiders, said that they needed those weeks and programmers to have the game/engine running on WiiU in a basic enough form to be playable. That "basic enough form" is a way to say that the graphics were very basic (no colors or details, just blocks that moved in a blocky background), no effects, no music, etc.

It was far from being a complete port.

The difference is in available tools, which should be fairly well shared between Wii U and the others, despite the difference in power. Whereas toolsets for Wii and PS360 were vastly different.
