Forums - General - Man leaves his 4-month old son on the ground as he escapes theatre shooting. Another man protects child.

He also left his girlfriend and daughter behind. Here's a link to him being interviewed (tell me his girl is not looking pleased).

Here's a link to the story of the man that saved his family. The kid was only 19 years old.

The second link also has the interview video if you scroll way down.

His crocodile tears didn't convince me. Then again, I've been a coward many a times in life. I just hope I'm never ever in his shoes to have to explain my stupid decisions in front of a wailing nation, and rather the be the one making the right decision. Start with the small choices the bigger ones will happen naturally.

I'm sorry, but that's not what happened in the first story at all. There was a man shooting people and killing them. While this was going on, this other man was looking for his son to try and save him. He couldn't find him and thought he was about to die, so he got himself, his girlfriend, and their daughter out. Then he immediately went right back in--to reiterate, back to the place where he could have died--to search for his son. He was unsuccessful in finding a small baby in the middle of a large crowd of people running for their lives.

Nobody got 'left behind'.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Yeah, it seemed like he was trying to hard to justify himself running. The guy that saved his children should be given a medal.

Are you serious? The girlfriend had to call him back to the theatre to pick them up because he was at his car. If you listen to his own words he said that he jumped to escape the theatre room instead of turning around to save his son and family. You might be thinking about another family, but this guy bailed on his family to save himself.

I will not judge him nor should anyone. In a crisis, nobody knows how they will react. You're mind goes into fight or flight mode. Without training you just don't know how your body will react in an emergency.

No one should hold him responsible for acting the way he did after being subjected to such a terrifying event. No one knows how they would react in a situation like this.

That's not how I heard it.  I could have interpreted it wrong, though.  I'll give it another listen when it's not one in the morning XD

Anyway, no matter what happened, none of us can judge him--none of us know how we would react if put in a crisis situation like this.

Both of you are absolutely right, but what bothers me was the guy was bold enough to propose to his girlfriend while she was in the hospital. I don't think she should have been forced to make a huge decision like that, directly after such a traumatic event.
