But just relying on 3rd parties puts them at a disadvantage. MS and Sony each have their own exclusive shooter IPs and no doubt will use their influence to get 3rd parties on their side as well. Just seems Nintendo is taking the lazy route.

Did you just say something pro Sony?  I...I think...I'm going to tear up...*sniff* We had a breakthrough.

Well, I agree the reliance for mature titles is not a strong point for Nintendo the lack of 1st party competition in a variety of genres might create an inriguing sales enviornment. But there needs to be some proof of concept when, at least on the Wii, those games didn't sell that well. Nintendo does have the head start so  it could be a really good opportunity for them to diversify their install base and create that platform for those developers without having to divert their own resources to test unproven IPs.

It would still be nice if Nintendo went for it though, even if it was Metroid. Imagine that game with a strong multiplayer focus.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I'm sick and tired of the Hd fans claiming Nintendo is after the hardcore without anything to back it up. How is revealing Mario, Wii Fit, Nintendoland(which they want to be the next Wii Sports) and a bunch of multiplats targeting the hardcore. Like I said before it's just people wanna believe Nintendo was in the wrong but numbers don't lie and as long as that blue line is the tallest, Nintendo proved they were right. For the poster that mentioned cloud storage, you realize the WiiU hasn't launched on top of that Nintendo hasn't even revealed shit about its storage and the PS3 needs storage due to its plenty of games needing to be downloaded.

"without anything to back it up"

Also, Nintendo has confirmed Wii U will come with 8GB of internal storage.

Both links are speculation and PR desires. Nothing concrete.

But I think there was a article where Nintendo said they arent making any "COD" style games, leaving that stuff up to third parties. Now saying COD doesnt necessarily mean that franchise, but shooters (1st and 3rd) in general. Shooters may not be your personal cup of tea, but they are the biggest and most in demand genre in gaming. For Nintendo to deny making that kind of game shuns many core gamers right there.

Then we get into the complicated part......what do they and we consider "core" games? Nintendo surely considers Mario a core franchise but many gamers would agree that a franchise made for everyone arguably isnt core. Core can be defined as a game with difficulty that cant be easily beaten, a mature plot/setting/characters etc, or something not meant for the mass market. Most Nintendo franchises are made for everyone, but they consider them core.

To me, thats deluded thinking on their part, and Nintendo hasnt changed a bit. You either make games for grown-ups and stop leaving it to the 3rd parties, or you arent a "core" machine. Thats me but Im sure Im not alone on that.

Just because Nintendo, as a developer, isn't going to make hardcore games does not negate the fact that Nintendo, as a console manufacturer, does want hardcore gamers to flock to their console. That's one of the biggest reasons why the want 3rd party support - To make the hardcore games that they themselves will not make. In theory, Nintendo can attract hardcore gamers without developing hardcore games, if 3rd party developers sufficiently support the Wii U.

But just relying on 3rd parties puts them at a disadvantage. MS and Sony each have their own exclusive shooter IPs and no doubt will use their influence to get 3rd parties on their side as well. Just seems Nintendo is taking the lazy route.

Of course the games aren't going to he exclusive. The point is Nintendo gets a lot of 3rd party support. A game doesn't have to be exclusive to support a console's library.

16GB isnt a mistake?? its really 16 and not 160?

16GB? Is that enough? (serious question here) The reason MS can have a 4GB console is because 360 doesn't need a harddrive at all and 99.9% of all games will work but I thought every games on PS3 required a hardrive, isn't 16GB too low?

Guys lets be serious they dont care about actually targeting the hardcore. They only want their platform to support those games so 360/PS3 owner has an chance to convert if they enjoy NIntendo games or if a Nintendo console is within the household. Remember Mario and Wii Fit are launch window games, so the son of an Wii fit owner could just talk mama into getting a WiiU since it will support both of there needs. Or maybe little brother wants Mario or lego city stories. The point of the WiiU is its convenience, it doesnt take over the living room just lives in it and it also is able to take over the living(WiiU Sports, NIntendoland assymetric gameplay, just dance 4). Thats why i see success coming from this platform, its job is to sell to atleast one person in the household and make it convenient for the others in the household to also purchase software for it.

$129 xmas PS3 incoming?

where did you get $129 from? no way its gonna be lower than $150.

Some stores have $50 off deals at Christmas for consoles. It's.possible.

if they can get it that cheap through deals, it would be great for sales.

I so called the $229 price. I would like some sort of praise from the Gamrconnect community.

... Congrats, Jay...!!

OT: Holy Crap! 179$?!

Must. Not. Buy.

I have a feeling it's 16gb flash + insert HDD of your choosing.

Well looks like there are now other sources coming out confirming the three skus, but we may not get official confirmation at gamescon. poo. Seems stupid not to just confirm it all at this point.

Who exactly was the guy that rumored these prices and why is he credible? I don't wanna consider some rumor that was started by a dude on a forum.
