There's also when God of War III turns into Guitar Hero. That was a bit weird and unsettling.

Wasn´t that in GoW 2?

Deus Ex Human Revolution has this problem. Using stealth to get through 4 hours of the game then you have to shoot your way through the bosses really bothered me.

Especially sucks the first time you run into a boss if you're playing on hard and have been going with a pure stealth build the whole time. :/

Leaving the boss fights to a completely different developer was a terrible idea.

they did that? Was it just the bosses.

Nope

Signature goes here!

AC Revelations, for some reason they added a tower defense thing and those weird Desmond FP platform/puzzle sections. the Desmond isnt so bad, since it is all optional, but it sure doesnt make him better. Those tower defense games are BS, they can be avoided as long as one keeps their wanted level down but its more difficult to do in this game

Yeah. They admitted it after all the complaints. I'd wondered why the boss fights seemed so removed from everything else, like I'd suddenly started playing a totally different game. That pretty much explained that.

I think it's okay so long as it isn't too high-pressure. The Pure White Glastonberry Extreme section of No More Heroes that dropped in out of nowhere. It wasn't too hard, and was a fun distraction. When the change becomes critical, like with many nonstandard final boss fights, then there's trouble, as they expect you to learn a new mechanic for the most difficult point of the game.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Thats how I felt and it makes sense now.

I do but then again change is necessary for evolution.

I always had a nagging feeling on the subtle changed between Halo 3 and Reach, or Gears 1 and Gears 2.....namely how they nerfed the Hammer of Dawn. God I loved that in Gears 1.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Nah, not really. Those parts tend to be enjoyable in my opinion. A bad example though would be the jet sequence in Battlefield 3 which bored the hell out of me. An excellent example would be the platformer Conker's Bad Fur Day, which at one point turned into a racer, and in the last chapters turned into a third persoon shooter out of nowhere.

So yeah, like you said, there are good ways of doing this and there are bad ways.

God of War 3 wasn't that bad, because that musical part was fairly easy. but I do agree with dead space and especially Deus Ex, boss fights were just uncalled for. I was playing pure stealth during my first place through but fortunately I was being a paranoid maniac so I upgraded Typhoon in case of screw up, in the end it saved my life during the first boss fight.
