Should games lose points for poor extra features?

Say you have a game that got a perfect rating. The game was later rereleased with some extra multiplayer modes and mini games but those aren't as fun or perhaps have some graphical errors and glitches. The extras are 100% optional.

Should the game lose points for the subpar/unpolished addiational content?

I do not think so, but I can see why people would because they are reviewing the whole game. Like Bioshock 2 getting less then bioshock 1 because of mostly the multiplayer.

if they are bad, then yeah. You judge the game as a whole not just some parts of it, if this extra features takes away from the overall experience then they should be taken into account. Of course that should be for the consumer poitn of view.

In written reviews they might judge the apart to avoid making a whole description again, like they do with some dlcs.

No. Reviews, including their ratings are based on the game played at the time of review.

This is a rerelease. Like Ninja Gaiden Black and the Wii U version of Mass Effect 3

You got to be kidding! Bioshock 2 got less points because it was not as good. It was too similar to the first one, but not so compelling.

@Topic

I think a game should not lose points for adding MP, if the Multiplayer is not the core of the game.

There need not be any new reviews at all thy.

Let's say that game is God of War Ascension. Let's say that the single player is awesome, game of the year, 10/10 material. Let's say that it comes packed with some pretty underwhelming multi-player. There's going to be somebody out there that may have been on the fence about this series but they are considering buying it based on the multi-player content. Now, if the multi-player sucks, their experience with the title is going to totally be lacking compared to guys like you and I who mostly care about the single player.

Yeah, the content is totally optional but, by adding it, it has to appeal to somebody interested in it. There isn't a single player score and a multi player score. There's just "the score". A Call of Duty game may have a shitty single player campaign but the multi-player is awesome. The stronger portion will inflate the score while the weaker portion will deflate it.

So, the bottom line is, if you're going to do it at all, you need to do it well. Like a woman with torn up panties, you may as well leave those panties at the house.

No. If something is indeed optional it should have a separate review.

Ah, well then this is different. A seperate platform should have a seperate review if the game is altered significantly on the new platform.
