Forums - Nintendo - I love my wii, but man, the shovelware is getting deep

I have a few games for my Wii that i really like and there are at least 10 that i want that are either out now or in the near future, but after having visited GS today, the shovelware is getting deeeeep.  Lots of titles I've never heard of (nor want to)...

Hopefully this doesn't continue as it is going to give the Wii a bad reputation.

I'm sure some of it had to do with the holidays but we need to get a steady flow of top notch games to play...

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)

prepare to BE shovelware in a while lol

Here's one of those shovelware publisher and his take on the situation
Paul Rinde, CEO of Destineer,

Let's put it this way. There has not been a Wii title we've offered [retailers] that they've not agreed to support so far...With DS, retailers are being more selective. It's a more mature system.... There are a lot more titles for the DS so retailers are a little pickier. And I think going into 2008 with Wii titles they will start to do that as well.

The bad part is, he knows the games are bad, he just doesn't care.

I've posted a lot of the games for next year here: http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=14526
Looks like the shovelware period is over!

To have good games there has to be bad games.

good list, but you know the shovelware will outnumber them 5:1

All the winning consoles have a ton of shovelware

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

With more titles availiable the retailers will have to be pickier to what they choose to stock. Hopefully this will leave some of the shovelware high and dry, if its not stocked it cant be sold easily, hopefully then publishers would release better games for their titles to be stocked. Thats the theory anyway. I still expect their to be lods of shovelware for a while if not all year really.

PS2 had a lot of bad games too, so will Wii.

Nintendo still doomed?

Yeah, but if you're an RPG fan, Wii is good:

1. Nintendo Power announcing BIG RPG next month.
2. Suikoden VI MIGHT be announced for Wii in a few days.
3. Atlas has surprises for Wii next year.
4. Square Enix "shifting" to Wii, and away from PS3.
5. We ALL know niche RPGs won't be on the PS3/360, unless MS uses their moneybags to get games on their platfrom (but they won't "steal" major ones) and SOny doesn't do anything to "steal" games either...

most of what you say is really speculation. Don't really know how it's going to go.

That being said, I hope you get you KH3 Wii
