Forums - Politics - Iran will be a Nuclear State by 2014.

I don't understand why everyone worries about this, they won't start a nuclear war one they have nukes. Why? Because they don't want to die either.

This. The power of a nuclear weapon comes from the potential threat that a country MIGHT use it,  not from a country actually going thru and using it. If Iran gets nuclear weapons capability (and Im still not sure thats what they are aiming for at the moment), then they would be smarter to use it as leverage rather than actually use it.

Eh, I don't trust nuclear weapons in the hands of virtual dictatorships in any case really.

Never know when they're going to decide to "Go down in history" when they're about to be overthrown anyway.

I mean say your Kim Jong Un in Korea.  You've got your angry people at your gate, and you KNOW your going to die anyway.

What's the downside to firing a nuke or two on Japan?

Your going to die anyway, actually this might keep you alive longer as you have to face international trials now.

You go from forgotten dicatator who died a meaningless death, to suddenly being the new Hitler.  Which, for a dictator is probably a good thing.

i don't see the point of spreading all this  fear. all this coming from the mainstream media as well. But, somehow everyone forgot Pakistan have nukes, and there is supposedly talibans in there.

There's too much propaganda in US media. It's rivaling WW2 levels of propaganda, and MOSTLY EVERYONE is buying it. Why are only some nations allowed to be nuclear? I mean doesn't the US preach freedom and liberty for all?

Edit - I was born in Ethiopia and raised in Canada since I was 3, for all the people wondering.

its ironic because  the us bombed so many countries, not only in the middle east but in south america as well and used two nukes on one country in WWII

The real question is why is anyone allowed nuclear weapons?

I sure as hell don't like Pakistan, India or Israel having nukes, and would be much happier if no country had them.

I don't want Iran to have nukes either though.

Edit: Also while this may be some degree of posturing, I don't think there is any doubt that Iran is attempting to get nukes.

So your point is... one really unstable country that may have terrorists in it has nukes so we should hand them out to every unstable nation with terrorists in it?

Have you really thought this arguement through?

That and the "The US is the only country to have used nukes" are about the laziest, uncritically most unthought out arguements I've ever seen on the issue.

Oh come on, you know that isn't a real question.

People are allowed to have nukes, because once they have nukes you can't take them away from them.... because they have nukes.

unthought out? It is the truth. Maybe its to much for you to handle? Don't put words in my mouth or assume BS that you cant prove, and subtle slander me in the process. Every statement I made this far in this topic is irrefutable fact. Last time I'm posting in here. See ya.

So your arguement really is, the fact that some unstable states have nuclear weapons... they should all have nuclear weapons?

How does that arguement make sense to you?
