They have a shot. In fact, I'm extremely curious to see how things play out next gen. Any of the three could be on top. Nintendo getting a 1 year advantage, Xbox further pushing perhaps a new kinect, sony...being sony. Maybe focusing on being the xbox alternative.

At VentureBeat's MobileBeat 2012 conference today, Xbox president Don Mattrick and Kleiner Perkins partner Bing Gordon took to the stage to talk about gaming and Microsoft's Xbox brand. Gordon insisted that the brand and Xbox Live are Microsoft's big winners, comparing Xbox Live to Apple's iTunes.

Mattrick mentioned that Xbox SmartGlass was integral to the platform's continued growth. He also confirmed to VentureBeat that Halo 4 would connect to the Microsoft Surface tablet using SmartGlass.

"In the past five years, Xbox went from number three to number one [in the home video-game console race], and we took Xbox Live from nothing to north of 40 million users," Mattrick said.

"With Smart Glass we'll add a very simple idea: context and intelligence and sharing between different devices."

Lol everything you see on 360 now is just MS gearing up for Xbox 8.

I know, but it's not going to be here for at least another 18 months, and what will happen in that time? O.o

they will go from 67.2M sold to 82.7M probably.

They will perhaps surpass them in North America but I still see a decent amount of Wiis flying off the shelves this holiday season once they drop it to $99.  I am sure they will drop the Wii to that price once the Wii U launches.  So the Wii might be doing bad right now but a 50 dollar price drop and holiday season can't hurt.  I'm sure 360 will get a price drop eventually soon.  They should do it for the holiday season or around the Wii U launch.

The last 18 months we heard that the Wii or PS3 have the chance to surpass them because of game X/pricecut...  Well I believe it is not a matter if X360 will sell more than the Wii in USA but when it will..or a miracle must happen..
