One Piece RPG Announced for PSP

Menu-based battles for Luffy's latest adventure.

From Musou to RPG! The next One Piece is an RPG on PSP.

It's hard to believe, but PSP has gone without a single One Piece game all this time. That will change this Winter as Namco Bandai releases One Piece Romance Dawn for the system.

Romance Dawn is a traditional RPG with a command battle system. Taking control of Luffy, you'll adventure through familiar One Piece worlds, recreated in 3D. As Luffy gains level, you'll be able to improve his properties (speed, attack strength, etc.) and customize him in various ways).

A screenshot in Weekly Jump, which has a first look at the game this week, shows Luffy facing off against four enemy pirates. The combat system uses an icon-based menu system with options for attack, flee, item use, and so-forth.

Jump says that the battle system will offer more than just simple turn-based mechanics, though. Specifics are being left for a future report.

One Piece Romance Dawn will be released this Winter.

Let the PSP continue to sell.. it's only pure profit and revenue for Sony

mM

Kind of like the DS.

Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward = best game ever made.

more so in the west.

Also the biggest mistake I think Nintendo made was reelasing TWO pokemon games on DS. like wtf? Black & White V2 and Conquest, shoudl have been 3DS games, that would have sold hardware. Instead there was no need for peopel ot buy a 3DS as they can play these on their current DS system.

The PSP is a beast. I was playing God of War Ghost of Sparta (PSP game) on my Vita last night and I was shocked how good the PSP's graphics looked. It really makes it hard to justify going to the Vita. Yeah, the Vita is a lot more than just graphics but with PSP games looking that good, I can see how the thread's title is true. Not sure how the OP supports this, though. Are those really big franchises in Japan?

True, but Sony needs to build up a userbase for Vita if they ever want to get some solid 3rd party support in Japan. Persona 4 has been their biggest game since launch and that was just a port of the PS2 version.

Well the Vita upscales PSP games so that's probably why it looked so good to you.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Well, technically the Xperia Play is a PSP device they have to keep supporting too.

PSP gets the games, the reasons are just common sense... what people pictured as ps vita's biggest feature it's actually what is killing it, all the games available on vita are better (and probably you already have them) on you home console, but you can't play Pokemon, Digimon, Hatsune miku's games, those date sims, etc on your home console, it's an ''unpolished'' statement (i'm very sleepy) but i think my point is very clear, Ps Vita's only competitor is not apple, is not 3DS and is not PSP, actually has an advantage of almost 7 years and better overall capabilities.
