The internet hates on everything. Its pretty anoying.
With that said, its a fact the Vita is an overpriced piece of hardware with no differentiation ( if you dont know what it means, its with something exciting that makes its software unique to it).
Selling 25k is really good in a week where a new color and a high profile game come out (for the vita), but overall its still very poor.
Saying things like it tripled sales on persona 4 week and it doubled sales on MGSHD week is pure and simply trying to fool who is reading. The vita is struggling and its viability as a platform is in doubt.
With that said, i like my PSP and i would like to get a Vita if it manages to survive, but we have to call things by their names and be blunt to Sony, so they actually do something to save it, and trying to hide the facts under dubious catch phrases isnt gonna cut it.

I'm sorry but I have to ask. Why on a sales site would you make such an easily checkable wrong statement? Compared to it's predecessor it is doing terribly. Unless you were talking about Vita's first year versus PSP's 7th but that would be madness. However even then it would be wrong. Looking at Famitsu's numbers for this year the PSV is at 376,295 while the PSP is at 511,794. So even this year so far the Vita has been lagging behind the PSP by a big chunk.
Also on neogaf's sales thread most people aren't impressed at all. Because in their sales threads and vgchartz most users understand sales. The vita is currently doing utterly abysmal in Japan. Even with these boosts it is often selling below what the 3DS was doing pre-price cut. The 3DS got huge amounts of flak for those sales and required a hefty price cut and a wave of MASSIVE games. The vita is doing worse than that even in it's best weeks. Why would anyone think the Vita is doing good? It is struggling and it needs a price cut and a wave of big games. So far neither of those things are on the horizon.
I also think this is quite rich coming from Galaki whose recent posts consist of Pokemon B+W2 bombed and got worse reviews than B+W and Pokemon Conquest bombed to complain about people being unfairly negative.
It's just a product of people having too high of expectations, even when they know full well it wasn't going to jump from 13k to 100k with just a new color SKU.
This is evident when people come in and say things like "Vita had a decent bump up to 25k (I expected 35k)".
I think it is doing pretty well for not having the super heavy duty hitters like a Mario, Mario Kart, Monster Hunter, etc... and a price tag of $100 less.
I guess I just look at it differently though since I think the numbers would look a lot different if it was $170 instead of $250.

Thats the point isnt it?
Sony needs to drop the price or no one is gonna develop games for it. The longer they take doing that the further down the bottomless pit they push the Vita. The question after that is: Can it sell without big games out for it though? 3DS got MK7 SML3D and MH3G. Vita just doesnt have anything else on the same level.
It wouldnt hurt though, and it would give publishers and developers a bit more faith to risk making a project on the system, instead of just porting over their PS3 titles.
The biggest problem is, it might already be too late and the system already got such a bad stigma/rep that it will be impossible to drag it back out from that pit. We will know, if sales go back to under 10k in the following weeks.

PS3 had a real bad stigma to it as well. PSP also didn't look so hot before Monster Hunter suddenly decided it wanted to become this gigantic IP. Remember what DS vs PSP used to look like for years?
I think it is still way too early to decide if something had run out of time.
Other than that, with both of the handhelds I do not really think the prices of the systems are the issue but rather the price of the games. Ever since Smartphone gaming has gained traction this is becoming even more apparent.
Yesterday I had my nephew over and he was talking about his 3DS. My fiance asked what games he had and he only has like 2 or 3 games. He says he doesn't have a lot because his mom and dad say they cost too much. She is a Registered Nurse and he is a Physical Therapist. they have a combined income of somewhere in the $120,000-130,000 /year range. They can afford them, but when they see what a game costs on their iPad or Android Tablet it makes that $35 3DS/Vita game a bit hard to swallow.
I have felt this way for years that games should not cost $35-$40 on a handheld. It makes them look bad, especially when I am playing full featured titles on my phone for a fraction of the cost. What will Time Travelers offer me for $40 that Chaos Rings didn't give me for $12?
Buy that iPod Touch 8GB for $180 and give it to your kid with full access to hundreds of free games or buy him/her that Vita for $250, then a memory card for another $40, then finally a game to play for another $40? Even the $170 3DS doesn't look as appealing as that iPod Touch and I would wager that it has to do with the fact that while they may not be as full fledged, you could get anywhere from 10-40 games (Excluding FREE games) for the price of that one Mario Kart.

But games like Resident Evil, Kid Icarus or Gravity Rush deserve their 40$ price tag. They are on par with console games and already cost 20$ less. Getting these games at 10$ would obviously be nice but they would not have the same quality and polish that they have now.
Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

well we don't like to lie to ourselves here
well most of us anyway

obviously many of the people commenting here haven't seen galaki's other posts lol
Where is "everywhere else"?
22-25k on a color week is nothing to write home about, imo, but the problem is not that. Problem to me is the future. In japan people are hyping Hatsune Miku... nothing wrong in liking that game, it's probably a good game, but when it's locked to be your biggest game of the year (and of the foreseeable future), well, something is wrong.
I can't even imagine the difference in support 3DS will have from now on. How can a developer ignore the fact that there's 7:1 (and growing) difference in user base? Nobody did those games for PS2 because they loved it. They did them because the market loved it. And the cube had all nintendo first party and Resident Evil exclusivity + many other things... Vita has mystery game Soul Sacrifice and... Hatsune Miku in a time when 3DS has its 3 biggest games (in the whole gen?) + many others ready to launch weeks apart from each other.
That 7:1 will grow to uncontrollable levels. The kinda of level where a dev will say... "yup, 3DS will give me more money for the buck. And hey, it costs less to develop for it too". Vita still has time, but it desperately needs a BIG game(s). Exclusive too - even Hatsune Miku isn't if you think about it. Even announcements would help. I always have faith in those game heaven conferences, I'm expecting a lot for the new one - god knows when.
OT: The internet is bad with everyone. It was very bad with the 3DS. Now that vita is doing much worse than 3DS, why the internet wouldn't be be even worse to him? It's Sony's job to change this. Not anyone else's
